i'd have to watch it back, but round 10 i gave very very clearly to kovalev, round 12 was closer from my memory although the punch stats say otherwise. im sure there was another fairly obvious kovalev round in the second half of the fight too.

Meh. Did not really lose. His stock is higher.

He lost by 1 point to a p4p master boxer

More activity and he leaves no doubt

If Ward is 1 p4p now (he should), Kovalev is 2

u cant. i dont understand how anyone gives ward those rounds. i thought 12 was even the clearest that kovalev won that round. yet 2 of the 3 blind judges gave it to ward hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha what a mockery. no wonder boxing is dead.

          He didn't.

Kovalev won 5 of the first 6 rounds and a couple rounds down the stretch.

Not to mention, Ward was stealing most of the rounds that he won. Kovalev won his rounds clearly.

(no cry baby) I'm legit curious- because if Ward did legit win those rounds, then it was closer then I thought. but as of now, it's looking more and more like a robbery due to incorrect judging of those two rounds.

Anybody got good justification for Ward winning those two rounds?
The justification I have is two fold- first being that judges do not get to see the compubox stats round by round and they are judging on what they are seeing live- which realistically could have been Ward controlling in terms of ring position and generalship. Second, Compubox is a really antiquated system that does not get it right all the time. several cases in the past of punch stats that look nothing like what you see with your own two eyes.

At least 1-2. Thats what people dont get. I get it was a close fight, but the judged had Ward sweep every round in the second half, inexplicably. Gave him EVERY close round and not so close

Kovalev without a doubt won round 12 IMO he landed far more and harder shots.

I mean it's an absolute mockery to the human race to give Ward round 12.

The problem is that we have these narratives that determine how a boxer wins

Kovalev landed more, had a good KD, and was in trouble at any point. 4 good jabs a win dont make.

Ward got away with it because he is Ward and judges expect him to win ugly versus Kov expected to KO.
Ward got took to Kremlin boxing school

Ring generalship is such a shot concept. Point is to land more andd be hot less. Floyd fans should know that. Kovalev did it.

Generalship is a hazy meaningless concept to justify when your guy does not clearly win

On the judges scorecards Kovalev won 1 round of the last 8. That's literally impossible.

Still waiting on somebody to justify Ward winning rounds 10 and 12: IF nobody can come up with how Ward won both of those rounds- then the general consensus should go down that Kovalev got robbed, because, well, those rounds, just one of them would of officially gave him the win.
