GGG bigger than most Middleweights? Why?

Do you think Golovkin is a big middleweight that is too big for other middleweights.

If you think so then why?

For the record I think he is an average sized middleweight just like Floyd is an average sized Welterweight.

Also, this has nothing to do with defending the Brook fight as a great choice. Why either guy wanted this fight I'm not sure but conventional thinking says that Brook will get steamrolled/beatdown. Respect for Brook taking it though.

He's about average size.

He's 5'10, with a 70" reach.


Floyd wasn't an average sized WW, because he has a 72" reach.

HE should move up cause we want to see him challenge himself more. A normal fighter's body should let him fight n two divisions without getting big disadvantages due to his size. No fighter is suited exclusively to one weight class.

In normal cases people doN't even expect fighters to move up but n Golovkin's case we're talking about a supposed, great P4P top fighter and the important part is the "supposed" cause he is here 34 years old and still didn't prove himself against elite competition.

I doN't say that 168 much better now but he would still prove himself more there than fighting in this shell of a weight class with top names in it who would be obliterated by the majority of 154 top fighters too... See how Geale a top 5 mw at that time ended up against Cotto. The same way as against Golovkin maybe even worse. And Cotto wasn't even a bg fighter in 154 not to speak about 160 then...

If Golovkin is a natural mw then it must not cause him problems to move up for a fight or two to challenge himself more (most greats in the history moved up btw or even the ones who didn't had significant wins under their belt in their weight class) and when the Canelo fight would really materialize he can still fight him in mw...

or if you say that this supposed future atg, HOF, etc... fighter you believe Golovkin is can't handle a slight size disadvantage against DeGale or Jack (good fighters but not world elite) then you basically admit that you doN't even think he is that great.

He should move up because other fighters are always required to do so..

Crawford just got 140 and they already want him at WW...meanwhile the same people scoff at the thought of GGG moving up.

Broner was slammed for being in a dead LW division...by the same people that root for Golovkin.

If GGG had one of Broner's balls he'd be at 175 kicking asses....or trying to.

I voted he is a small middleweight because he has been close to 160 for 6 weeks or more before the fight. If he is 162 the week before the fight then he won't have to dry out 10 pounds or more like a big middleweight would have to do. GGG said he could make 154 for Mayweather which also indicates he is a smaller middleweight. Perhaps he is an average size middleweight but he certainly isn't a big middleweight. Brook out weighs him by 5 pounds now and might out weigh him on fight night.

Well since he's so small he could have easilly made Canelo's catchweight.
