He's not small, just appears that way because he's constantly in shape due to activity. When he's in the ring his frame tends to look a bit bigger than most the guys hes in against. He's not small by any means and he'd probably be just about big enough for most 168ers...but hed give up some size to some.

I voted he is a small middleweight because he has been close to 160 for 6 weeks or more before the fight. If he is 162 the week before the fight then he won't have to dry out 10 pounds or more like a big middleweight would have to do. GGG said he could make 154 for Mayweather which also indicates he is a smaller middleweight. Perhaps he is an average size middleweight but he certainly isn't a big middleweight. Brook out weighs him by 5 pounds now and might out weigh him on fight night.

My bold and probably true statement: GGG is an average MW. It just so happened that many true MWs who weigh the same or outweigh him are hiding at JMW and it's not limited only to Canelo. The day GGG moves up all these top notch Charlos, Andrades, Canelos and JRocks will start complaining about making 154 and start moving up to a prestigious MW division. It just doesn't make sense that currently MW is considered very weak and JMW is considered very hot yet no superb JMW in the past 3-4 years moved up ONCE to grab a title or MANDATORY at MW and get a good payday with GGG. BAM!

**** average. A few years ago he'd come in in the mid to high 160s, as he's aged that's climbed slightly til he was coming in the low 170s but has dropped back to 170 since getting the IBF trinket.
Guy stays in shape and fights regularly, making weight doesn't seem to be an issue. There's plenty of guys who drain more to make 160, and guys at 154 who should maybe be fighting at MW which is where the 'Small MW' stuff comes from but actually I think GGG is pretty much right where he should be. I'm not convinced he can usefully pack on that much more weight though and suspect he may be slightly undersized at 168.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 09-05-2016, 04:13 AM.

Average. His 'hunter' posture makes him look a little shorter than he is during fights but he's good sized. Fans (defenders) seem hell-bent on this idea that just because he's not a huge MW, that's somehow small. Definitely not a small MW, but not particularly large either.
