Usain Bolt is also a superior athlete. Bolt was a cricket player growing up and joined sprinting because his coaches thought he was too lazy.
So let me get this straight, Sprinting is a more natural thing to humans than swimming, you don't learn how to sprint its an instinct/response/reaction if you may, that you work on & sharpen. You are gifted with a good speed & then you work on it some more through practice & a bit of science..
Swimming on the other hand is an alien to humans, as we universally know men are not born swimmers & its a skill they learn.. Swimming has more science to it than you think.. its not just flapping of hands & legs.. buoyancy is not natural for a human body..

Bolt wasn't a lazy cricketer but Bolt was training to be a fast bowler when his coach saw his run-up & thought, bloody hell! this guy runs way too fast.. Bolt still plays cricket & always wanted to play for West Indies cricket team like some legendary fast bowlers..

I don't know what are you on about comparing leBron, Jordan & Ali with Phelps.. All are athletes who are/were the best of their time.. An athlete is guy who trains(physical training) to prepare & participate in a physical sport.. That's why Chess players are called Sports person & not athletes..

Once again, I didn't say one sport is more skilled than the other. But better athletes do compete in sprinting that they do in swimming.

There are no black guys in swimming. Seriously, I couldn't spot a single black guy. So how do you know they're really going up against the best athletes?

Black people don't go into swimming for two main reasons. This is from an American/Canadian perspective. One is they prefer other skilled sports like Basketball, Football, Baseball, boxing, soccer etc. Those sports are a lot more engaging than going into a pool all day and swimming in a straight line.

The other reason is that swimming is expensive. It's expensive to pay for the coaching. A lot of black athletes aren't fortunate enough to come from families that can afford the type of coaching required.

It's also part of the reason you don't see many black people in Hockey and Tennis either. It's not that they can't physically compete in those sports. It's that the sports cater to middle class white families. There's nothing wrong with that except you're left wondering are these really the best athletes?

Sprinting is different because the reason white people aren't represented as well in sprinting is because they're not physically capable of competing with the black athletes. It's not because of financial reasons or anything like that it's that they can't physically match up with the black athletes. They certainly try, but they get weeded out.

Boxing is mental too, I'd venture the South African Chad Le Clos would wreck him in a one-on-one fight.

Dude.. you are going way off & citing that's your perspective.. You said in your earlier post that Swimmers are not athletes, now we both agree they are..
Then you are saying they aren't the best athletes, again you are comparing apples & oranges.. Athleticism wise you cannot compare a sprinter to basketball player or a swimmer to a boxer, each have a niche forte & its their individual sport's prerogative..
if you are talking about US alone, very rarely to kids want to participate in a sport that needs more time & yields less $. We both know boxing, football, baseball, basketball has way more money.. Its not about race, its about opportunities.. More often than not some poorest country guys win these marathons, thats because of the training he received(adversity faced) & the opportunities he got..
Genetically some are gifted, some need to work hard to achieve.. Genes do not determine better athleticism but gives you a head start..
Tennis has been a richer kids sport like Golf, so irrespective of the race people who cannot afford will opt out, period.

So swimming is a sport that uses almost every muscle barring your ****ing tongue, yet its not a "proper sport"

Michael phelps is the greatest olympian of all time, fact. His medals are literally stacking up as we speak.

To say someone with his height and wing span is nit athlefic is on par of saying steohen hawking is not a true physicist.

            Some really illogical opinions.

He would be the greatest of all time. Win belts in 10 divisions and go 175-0 all knock outs.

I swam in high school & played water polo. But I also boxed I was like Nate Diaz, but less skilled and a lot bigger. Swimming is a great sport. I just wish I would have been better at it.

F#ck swimming & all the made up events they have. Floyd, Sugar Ray, Zou Shiming & Mark Breland & a bunch of guys would have 10+ Olympic medals if they had as many dumbass boxing events. 1 round fight event, 2 round fight event, 3 round fight event, headgear, no headgear, jab event, hook event, uppercut event, hardest puncher event. F#ck Phelps & f#ck that hairy ass mfer from the 70's or whenever who's record he broke cuz swimming has a ton of bs ass medals. He'd be KO'd in 2 & retire. That riverdance mfer who fancied himself a boxer back in the day would Mike Tyson this bong water momo.
