Comments Thread For: Wilder: I Wish it Was Povetkin, Now I Focus on KO'ing Arreola

Gonna call BS on this. Wilder's team immediately said the match is cancelled before the real invesigation even began. Now he's all of a sudden wishing it was Povetkin?
Don't get me wrong, the Meldonium drama is completely Povetkin's fault, but Wilder took this chance to run the hell away from this fight - I don't exactly blame him, since fighting in Russia is a dangerous proposition.
But let's not act like Wilder wants to fight Povetkin.

If he wishes it was Povetkin why did he pull out of the fight?
They postponed it for more testing. Subsequent testing came back clean. Povetkin is still mando.
It was Wilder who tucked tail and cancelled the whole thing. Nobody else. There is no other organization that made that move.
How I see it he was forced to fight Povetkin or vacate. He took the money to fight Povetkin but didn't feel confident. At the first hiccup, a legal microdetection of a recently banned substance that came up clean in retesting, Wilder's team saw an escape window and took it.
Furthermore, why would Wilder voluntarily put his career on hold while the investigation continues? Would you demand Povetkin offer Wilder that courtesy if the roles were reversed? Wilder is already on record as being su****ious of Povetkin before the failed test, where's the motivation for him to believe Povetkin could possibly be clean?
Lastly, has Povetkin explained why he was taking heart medication in the first place? I'd be interested to know his answer...

PEDvetkin the drug cheater does not deserve a Wilder fight
Screw PEDvetkin that drug induced commie cheat and liar. Wilder shpould move away from that low down cheating communist PEDvetkin and take on more qualified and honest contenders. Scum bag drug induced cheaters should be banned from boxing anyway. Now that is a fact comrades.

So Povetkin is clean of former microtraces of the most mild recently banned out there that was legal for 40-50 years. And his microtraces were already legal via WADA's excemption.
How else can you interpret it?
Wilder wanted a way out and took the first one he could.Last edited by ////; 06-16-2016, 03:28 PM.
