What's entertaining about watching a fat bum get splattered in the first round?

Wilder is a seriously flawed fighter who makes for entertaining TV. As a boxing fan, I'll never have any complaints about that.
I agree with your post in the main, but I can't see this being in any way an entertaining fight unless you enjoy early round blowouts or amusing chicken dances. Arreola is so far gone at this point that I doubt he even manages to mount an offensive before getting blitzed. It's going to look like one of those early Wilder performances where his opponent is one-sidedly beaten down and everyone is left with a feeling of disappointment that that was all there was.

Put Wilder against Mansour or Jennings or someone like that if he wants an entertaining and competitive fight. This is just a typical mismatch.

Yea that's the likely result. But even if that's the case, watching Arreola go down Butterbean-style is always enjoyable to me. As far as a more competitive opponent, I'd prefer that but coming off that cancellation I can understand why they didn't go that route.

Not especially. I'm a Marco Huck fan, as you can see by the username.

Jennings is a bit optimistic, but there are a ton of guys between him and Arreola who'd jump at the chance. We've seen in his last few fights that Chris is now more on the level with guys like Jason Gavern than any sort of vaguely upper tier opponent. It's only his name that's still getting him fights, and god knows what he even did to earn one in the first place.

Classic - "it couldnt be a normal average fighter"..... So we selected a old washed-up punchy beer-bellied pot-smoking fighter who is fresh off a drug suspension and is no threat to my chin - I give you Chris " the spare-tire" Arreola!!! Funny how "the top five" is never ready or available.

Hilarious how the "top five" is never ready or available for Wilder's many voluntary defenses!!!

If he wishes it was Povetkin why did he pull out of the fight?

They postponed it for more testing. Subsequent testing came back clean. Povetkin is still mando.

It was Wilder who tucked tail and cancelled the whole thing. Nobody else. There is no other organization that made that move.

How I see it he was forced to fight Povetkin or vacate. He took the money to fight Povetkin but didn't feel confident. At the first hiccup, a legal microdetection of a recently banned substance that came up clean in retesting, Wilder's team saw an escape window and took it.
