It's fine if Canelo doesn't want to fight at 160. I get it. He knows he'll lose. He's making a decision with his best interests in mind. It's smart. It's just annoying as a fan to not get to see a big fight between two guys who are at the top of the division because there's no strong governing body that forces guys to face quality opponents. It makes me long for the days of Haggler and Hearns.

But in the real world he hasn't doesn't jack shit to earn that kind of split. He's never produced revenues on the same level as Canelo. It is what it is.
So Canelo will simply drop the belt and negotiate a more appropriate split.
You can't say GG doesn't deserve a certain split.
Canelo won't be negotiating anything, because he clearly doesn't want to fight him.

1) Brook would fight Canelo tomorrow.
2) Jacobs/Saunders are both more likely to fight Canelo than Golovkin. They have both shown no interest whatsoever in Golovkin, and both of those guys would obviously prefer a much better payday and much better exposure against an easier opponent.
I completely disagree, Canelo has much better options than Golovkin does.
2. It's realistic that Canelo will want a few more 155 CW's before he goes any higher.
BJS is now criticising Canelo and he appears to be interested in having further talks with GG.
A Jacobs fight may also be ordered by the WBA.
You're only looking short term with Canelo. Again, if when Canelo eventually moves up to MW GG has all of the belts, he's going to have nowhere to go.Last edited by robertzimmerman; 05-18-2016, 10:02 PM.

I said that they have been making that comment for THREE YEARS, not that they made it three years ago.
And only last August Team Golovkin stated that Gennady could beat everyone at 154.
According to their recent claims, Golovkin could have fought Ward AND Canelo..... but he chose not to, and he used weight as an excuse.

The fight did $30 million in PPV sales and another $7.5 million at the gate. Not too bad.
HBO's replay of the fight on Saturday night averaged 767,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. The replay spiked dramatically to a peak of 1.005 million -- a much higher than normal 31 percent increase from the average -- during the fifth round, just before the booming knockout.
But believe what you want.

Damn Canelo don't do that. I really liked you, man, what the ****? I never thought he's some kind of elite fighter or something like that but I never though he's a puss and I was hoping he wouldn't vacate, now what the **** is he doing? Aw that's heartbreaking and I really liked the guy but now I just don't know what to think
