I've been saying Margarito was overrated since last year. He beat Clottey after he ****ed up his hand. Outside of that the only other guy he beat was Cotto. Cintron is not that good IMO. He has 2-3 names on his resume. Outside of that he's beat who?

This writer couldn't have been more correct. Just like him, I said years ago that Hatton and Margarito were trash

It takes a while to sink in for most folks that putting your trust behind a fighter, who many would consider one dimensional, isn't very wise.

Can't really blame many fans who've had a limited time viewing fights, but many just jump on the bandwagon and ride it come hell or high water because he stands and trades and can take a punch, until their fighter gets exposed for being over hyped by another fighter with more diverse skills.

The media just do what they do best by hyping fighters and putting them in the limelight in order to sell fights. They know most folks will react on emotion and not based rational and critical thinking.

It helps that such a fighter can keep winning since that tends to elevate him to God-like status among his die-hard fans. But many are disappointed when their fave fighter doesn't live up to their expectation which was based on premature assumptions.

Yeah I agree. I've noticed it's always the new guys to the board who fall in love with the Hatton's, Margarito's, Pavlik's and Miranda's of boxing. They have no clue what real boxing is all about. Guys like that will never beat cream of the crop fighters who actually know how to box.

Good Articles stand the test of time. Good observation by the writer. On May 2, Hatton will be exposed again as an overrated fighter.

Shane is a boring fighter, the clock is ticking and he aint getting any younger.. if you ask me he's been out of his prime since his first loss.. Hatton would put on a much better fight with Mayweather than Mosley ever could, given the opportunity.
how is shane a boring fighter. he just he just knock out Marg and he always goes the the KO in every fight

Its ****** and disrespectful to both fighters. Both have had had long careers and acheived far more than the vast majority of fighters starting out could ever hope too.Its also annoying to hear armchair pundits on here saying ****** crap about jumping on the bandwagon, new to the board, casual fan blah blah blah and other condescending nonsense. In the case of hatton,I have followed his progress since his first pro fight.would you consider that jumping on a bandwagon? Also,he has lost one fight out of 46,and that was to one of the greatest fighters ever to lace on a pair of gloves. The casual fan,or the one lacking real knowledge of the sport is the one that lurks around in the shadows only to pop up when a good fighter has lost only to say,"you see, hype job,exposed".etc. so called fans of this attitude do the sport we are supoposed to love no credit at all ,and so it nothing but harm. The banter is one thing, but these kind of idiots,to quote another"hype job" kelly pavlik, wouldnt know a left hook from a fish hook.
