I read an article by Lance Pugmire, it was about 3 weeks ago, about how Spike TV is not happy with the ratings that PBC is generating.

"Overall, Premier averaged about 500,000 viewers for its eight Spike TV boxing shows, significantly less than the Bellator MMA cards, which drew an average of 840,000 viewers."

Their good fights do decent ratings...but then again, those are high priced fighters in there.

LMFAO at Kimbo vs Dada shattering all their records.. which were previously Kimbo vs gracia.

I guess they need Roy Jones vs Tarver on there

what did canelo-cotto do??? wasn't it like 800k or so.. If that fight can't break a million, then nobody else will either.. Canelo/cotto is about the biggest boxing fight you can have without floyd or manny involved

Canelo GGG would easily break 1 mill ppvs.

but its going the way of floyd manny.

they will both fight multiple times with the come on/carrot on the stick for boxing fans to continue supporting both fights with the end game and their loyalty being rewarded with a canelo vs GGG super fight similar to floyd vs manny finally being made.

sad situation but the financials in a niche sport dictate this game plan.

I thought Canelo/Cotto would, but GGG/Canelo would have a better build up...but fuck a build up and fuck the whole aging out waiting game

no way ggg/canelo breaks a million.... If cotto/canelo can't,, no way would canelo/ggg..

GGG would need some major fights before that to even have a chance to break 1 million

I could understand this, considering the fights they been putting on, I would figure ratings should go up for them this year but Spike need to show the fights LIVE on both East Coast and West Coast at the same time. Also should move to Saturday Nights instead of Friday Night!

I think the Lara fight did really bad numbers and so did the fonfara fight.

                    Like 900k or something

That's why they wanna cook this up. These guys do 300k+ as A-sides and Golovkin even less... so they're hoping to cook it up more.

Will it break a milly, probably not, but no other fight will come close stateside IMO

                      Context matters

Kevin Kay, Spike TV president, said he was pleased with the first year of Premier shows because three action-packed bouts were picked among the top 10 fights of the year.

Overall, Premier averaged about 500,000 viewers for its eight Spike TV boxing shows, significantly less than the Bellator MMA cards, which drew an average of 840,000 viewers.

"We're working on the 2016 schedule now. We had some blips going head to head with college football, so the discussion is figuring out what to steer clear of," Kay said. "We're bringing the younger MMA audience to boxing. We want to make sure we have the best opportunity to succeed."
