Duva is a joke man. You guys will still blame Stevenson for this one.
Ward is fighting Kovalev mandatory when that should have been his next fight instead of Pascal, and Ward should have got the Pascal fight to compare their wins and then face Kovalev.

Hope Pascal pulls off the upset cause that is the only way we see a unification fight. They couldn't do a joint PPV? Kovalev is not a big draw which is why he has to face Pascal again. Dude will probably have all of his fights in Russia now.

But you don't know anything about boxing. Joint ppvs are for megafights. This is not it, not even close. Kovalev gets solid numbers but nowhere near Ppv, and Stevenson gets laughable numbers, and isn't even Showtime exclusive. Last he got cast out to Spike, poor ratings again

Stevenson vs Alvarez is a decent fight for boxing period...

Meanwhile, Duva-HBO are shooting themselves in the foot.. Wonder what she'll be thinking signing a few 500,000 $ contracts for her Multi belts holder A-Side... Kovalev can't sell anything on his own ...

No one through a fit about Stevenson fighting on SpikeTV because the fight was Stevenson-Karpency, a bout that Showtime would've carried if need be, but a fight that they were fine seeing elsewhere.
thats 1000% wrong. kovalev pascal 2 just like the first fight is ppv in canada and on regular hbo here. Kell Brook has fought on Showtime and been ppv in the Uk, same with amir khan. bute has been ppv in canada and hbo/sho here

Can you explain how that works?
It's how regular HBO Championship Boxing work. HBO directly pays the promoters a certain amount (let's say $3M) and the promoters split it with the fighters. There's no risk. With HBO PPV, HBO doesn't pay anything, and the fighters/promoters get money based on how it sells.

My guess is Stevenson wants a license fee based on what PBC or Showtime would have paid, but HBO is too cheap too pay that amount, and hence the need for a PPV. PPV for this fight is pretty ridiculous though. It's gonna sell like crap.

They know that deal with structure for HBO to get there' certain profit. bringing in showtime what only cut HBO's profit and add nothing to the pie. It's a one off fight there is no reason to bring showtime in. They had a good relationship with HBO to and I don't see them trying to include HBO in their other deals. They could just do this fight on HBO and then win or lose go back to showtime or PBC

To me that says They never really wanted to fight or just didn't like the deal
So give HBO everything and profit nothing? Lol, cmon guy.

*How come some of you can't see it, Kathy Duva is doing everything to avoid this fight, she only show the appearance of willing the fight. First, she need to make sure Kovalev stay focus, releasing him from the pressure of thinking about Stevenson before his saturday fight and also while Stevenson's watching ringside. And about russia I hope you didn't buy it, Kovalev wont fight in russia. I thought you would knew by now, it's a bluff, I mean; another one...

For his part, Yvon Michel was quick to respond to Duva's allegations.
"Adonis and I wanted this fight and I wanted to make a mega success , he said in a phone interview with the" Journal de Montreal ". However, what Kathy did not say is that she has never tried to convince HBO to participate in the project while Showtime was ready to embark. "
"The Kovalev clan had made us a very good offer , but ours was even better . In particular they were offered a 50-50 revenue sharing . It's a shame it does not work and we do not understand why they refused ."

Despite the failure of discussions with Duva , Michel does not close the door permanently.
"Our proposal remains on the table as long as both boxers are still champions at the time to resume the negotiations , said the head of GYM . Meanwhile , life goes on and it is no necessary to blame someone for this situation. It's part of the business ."

i said not to share the network portion of the profit. maybe i didn't clarify. the fighters and promoters already have agreed on their cuts. why should hbo share their cut with showtime. Its like if Main Events said Michel has to share his cut with interbox. doesn't work

HBO is forcing it on PPV. Haymon could put it ESPN and just add Max Kellerman to the broadcast team (He already works there). That is as nuetral as it will get, and imagine the promotion it would have on that network. Stevenson can get Canadian PPV buys, what does Kovalev get.

I don't think it should be on PPV at all. We all just saw what 2 foreign fighters on PPV look like in GGG vs. Lemuiex.

It's an easy fight to make, just go to a purse bid and then the winner can decide where it goes.

I agree. While this is a boxing fans must see fight, it won't do good PPV numbers.
