Mr. Philadel What part of this is not a fact Cotto moved up to 160 to cherry pick a gimpy Martinez. Then his ENTIRE time at 160 he ducked the best fighter in the world at 160 who was also his mandatory. And he got whooped by Canelo. I'm not talking about his career at 140, 147 where he hall of fame career was stamped. But at 160 he is known for losing to Canelo and ducking GGG. And that's why now we have to see Cotto fans crying when anyone starts talking about Canelo or GGG. Cotto fans bitter about both guys. Canelo because he beat Cotto and GGG because Cotto is accused rightfully so for ducking him his ENTIRE time at middleweight. When you open his book at middleweight that's his history and it burns you Cotto fans. Just accept it and move on both things happened he never did and he never intended to fight GGG and he lost to Canelo.

This is the last huge fight for both guys until someone new emerges. This will marinate.

Seriously, you can go back YEARS and you'll see him saying "I want unification, and if that's not possible, big PPV fights" for years. It's why he brought up Froch and Floyd.
I hate bringing up Ward because it usually starts a ridiculous GGG/Ward argument for the 287222432th time, but one of the reasons Golovkin wasn't that interested in Ward is because he didn't accomplish either unification or PPV mantra. Here's what he said in an interview back in :
#4 Andre Ward: "I respect Andre, he is great champion. Fight with him, my first focus is 160. Second, I want pay-per-view fight. Excuse me, Andre, fight with him now is not pay-per-view fight. It's not unification fight, not pay-per-view fight, just nothing. Just for fans. For future, of course, maybe next year, maybe for future. Of course."

I agree on balance Cotto had a great career but when the book is open about his career at 160 he will forever be seen as a guy who cherry picked a gimpy a belt holder and then ran from GGG and then got his butt whooped by Canelo. That's his history at middleweight and it burns Cotto fans to the point that they so defensive about him ducking GGG. He did, now get on with life.

Does it really matter which order they happen, as long as they happen? Are you really so far down on your list of GGG stuff to complain about that the bout order is your complaint of the week? Would you rather he was elevated to full champ instead of actually beating canelo?

Cotto beat Sergio for the belt when no one thought he would. Then he lost to Canelo, who is undefeated other than a draw and a loss to Floyd.
Only the most scummiest of f@ggots here on NSB would see his career solely relative to GGG. If you honestly believe that then you should think people are going to see GGG as the guy that ducked Ward. Do you?
He's undefeated. Oh, except for that fight he lost. LOL

Sergio had been dropped in each of his last what 3 fights and took a year off boxing because his knees were so bad. He had to retire after the fight not because any punches he took from Cotto but because his knees. Why didn't Cotto want to fight Sergio anyone of the 4-5 years earlier when he was in his prime and top 2 or top 3 on everybody's top 10 pfp lists? No he only wanted to fight him when he was a gimpy shell of himself. How bad Sergio looked and moved in that fight and how his knees forced him to retire after takes a lot of luster off that win. My knock on Cotto's career is only at 160. Where during his ENTIRE time as "champ" GGG was rated higher them him at middleweight and seen as the best middleweight in the world and his mandatory and he didn't fight him. What do we call that when a fight NEVER fights the best fighter at his weight while he is a "champion"? Ducking. That's what we call it. He will go in the books as having ducked GGG at middleweight and getting whooped by Canelo. Still a great fighter, great career and a future hall of famer but no matter how much Cotto fans cry you can't rewrite history. He ducked GGG and lost to Canelo. Those 2 facts are why anytime someone mentions Canelo or GGG these butthurt Cotto fans come throwing salt on both guys. It's the definition of bitter

Cotto earned the right to do what he wanted at MW. He didn't fight GGG at this stage of his career. No big deal.
