Based on what? Did Canelo tell Golovkin 'you either get the belt OR a fight with me, not both'? From what this article sounds like, they're offering Golovkin both the belt, the fight and the money if he waits 4-5 months.

What's the difference, if there's going to be a guaranteed date this year, Golovkin's getting the belt regardless. Financially it works out better for both sides this way as there'll be a better build-up to the fight, similar to Hopkins/Dela Hoya. Golovkin gets to have his cake & eat it too.

Exactly. Some people just don't get it. If they agree to fight in sept NOT a step aside fee but a actual contract for a fight in sept then everybody wins. Fans get the fight next year. GGG has the security of knowing he will get the fight he needs and get's an extra fight to build up his fanbase. Canelo gets a extra fight against a middleweight to get his feet wet at 160, both guys collect an extra check and now the PPV in Sept is bigger then a PPV in May. Only a idiot can't see the logic in this. If someone came to you and said I can give X amount of money for this fight in May. Or I can give you potentially double the money if you fight in Sept. Which would you take?

Only ones upset are crybaby Cotto fans and GGG haters.

Stepping aside three times now? He's closer than ever to unification with the winner of Lee/Saunders. GGG can take his belt from Caneko and If Lee wins he can unify and become undisputed. Allowing Canelo to keep the belt and wait until September only delays unification. What's so ****** about the truth? #allthebelts

he's not any closer to Lee/Saunders winner, because that fight hasnt happened yet. If Saunders wins, everyone knows he wont fight GGG, because he already said so. And if Lee wins theres a decent chance Dibella steers him to Jacobs, so who knows how it plays out.

I dont like delaying it anymore than you do. Probably less. But he's taking the better of 2 bad choices, so I cant be mad about it. He cant put a gun to ginger's head and force him to fight, so if he can get the fight made for sept and get his IBF mando out of the way in the meantime, I can live with that.....

As for the topic, I have no problem with that as long as they will fight in September, and I think they will. This fight gonna be huge, let it marinate for a couple of months.

up until last weekend, there were 3 relevant fights for GGG in 2016.

Sure I preferred Canelo first, but in reality I was fine with those 3 guys in any order. Now obviously Jacobs has inserted himself into the conversation, but it remains to be seen how the WBA will resolve their mando situation, and also the Haymon - HBO issue figures in also, so Jacobs isnt a real conversation at the moment, at least not until the WBA convention next week.....


and fyi if it were me, I'd force a strippage. But it isnt me, so what I think doesnt matter

like i said i have no problem with the build up for this fight,i will rather get this fight at 160 or close to that in september than to get it at 155 in may (canelo gets more credit after beating GGG)... ggg fans should also like this option better, now ggg has every right to say "160 next or no fight" cant complain for that, but youll have ggg fans calling a duck on canelo for trying to fight at 155 , a weight ggg says he can make easy...
after all this is the better option IMO, but still goes against the BS some ggg fans and his team said in the past...

From the way it was explained to me on here the other day, WBA regular vs WBO champ isn't considered a unification so Jacobs will have to fight his mandatory next, which might be GGG, the WBA will decide next week. WBA president and directors can call a mandatory between super & regular champ.

Actually Golovkin may get 2 fights before Canelo. Rafael and some others have said he'll fight March/February and again in May/June. HBO just approved Roman Gonzalez/Giovanni Segura for February 6th, more than likely GB's Tureano Johnson will fight Golovkin then in San Antonio, TX and they'll use that to kick off the Golovkin/Alvarez promotion.

Then there was talk of a possible double header with Alvarez in May. I don't think Golovkin would sit out from February to September, it's not his style.



I would love to see Alvarez fight the winner of Saunders/Lee in a unification fight to build momentum. That's exactly what Dela Hoya did prior to the Hopkins fight, and don't think Oscar and Bernard (ironically enough) aren't thinking it.


All assuming the fight does get agreed to today and not some bs like Alvarez taking the Diamond belt and telling GGG off.
