Golovkin doesn't have to do anything. he can sit where he wants and continue to beat on the dregs of the divison while being allotted a free pass by fans and media.

If Ward is at 175 (and you don't know if he can make 168 again) and GGG at 160, the CW would be 168 if they fought. Just sayin.

GGG has to come to cotto or canelo because they are bigger earners.

Most of us just want to see GGG face a top tier opponent. A p4p ranked opponent. Ward is the closest p4p fighter to GGG in terms of weight that HBO will not politically ban. Unless of course you want GGG to come down to 154 to fight Floyd if he unretired.

I'd love that fight, but can you be sure GGG can make the weight as he said?

The biggest fight left for Ward at 168 was Golovkin. Team GGG rejected it so he moved up.

The other fights at 168 are either promotionally impossible (DeGale/Jack) or pointless (Abraham II).

And of course HBO wanted Ward as far away from Golovkin as possible so they made it a stipulation in his deal that he move up to 175 and promise to fight Kovalev.
Hershman or however you spell it offered Ward the Golovkin fight when Ward was champion at 168...Ward said no. Please do not try to rewrite history as if this did not happen. 2 out 3 people involved confirmed this as such. The biggest fight left at 168? Ward hasn't fought at 168 in 2 years and 7 days to be exact. He got offered Golovkin just after he beat Rodriguez and said "NO THANK YOU". Not sure how that always seems to be left out of the discussion. My point will remain people want golovkin to do what they want him to do. Guy should now completely give up his shot at lineal glory because ya'll want him to fight Ward now, not two years ago when they offered the fight and they knew they'd have to wait on the politics for him to get a shot at the wbc belt.

GGG simply didn't want to fight him. GGG (given what ODH has been saying) appears to be another 12-18 months before he gets a Canelo fight, if he gets it at all. He will continue to fight lower level comp-lee, tuareano johnson-assuming Lee doesn't take the more lucrative Canelo deal.

Since A Canelo fight pays more than a GGG fight, Canelo seems better positioned to get the best of the bad bunch at MW.

Ward took the HBO deal so he is being positioned to fight Kov. Kov has the easy Pascal rematch and likely 1 more easier fight. Ward will get 1 or 2 easy fight(s) as well. Then they fight. Lets hope the fight gets made as planned.

Ward is correct. I think GGG is more skilled and better overall than Kov; but Kov has a proven resume against top competition and is the bigger guy. I think he will definitely be harder for Ward than GGG.

Why be a typical one deminsional fan? I can read your post as others like tmt and tell who you you pull for!!! What does that say??? I am Seminole Indian plus other blood! Some of my favorite fighters were black brown and white!!! Yall are insane !!!

GGG is a great fighter! Ward is as well but BORING!!! Just like May Jr and Riggo!!!!! GGG is not ,,,, boring

GGG wants the best money and That ain't WARD and we all Know that!! Ward should fight Beterviev and superman the fight Kovalev then he can meet GGG at some weight """IF"""he can beat those three

Until then Ward needs to quit running his mout and just fight elite
Fighters. GGG is doing his part

All he did was tell the truth. GGG robbed the fans of a fight we deserved to see but Kovalev is a better fighter and it's a better fight so we move on.
so Golovkin robbed the World of this fight? Funny Logic.

Had he moved up he would have robbed the World for a fight for the undisputed World mw Championship! Why didnt Ward just move down?

Seriously. I dont give a ****. Ward has moved up. He Will now add another year at least, to his run of fighting mediocre opposition. He could have done so much more. Hell I wouldnt even put money on the kovalev fight ever being made.

I will say this again if Ward could actually make 168 that is where he would be, he would not be fighting Paul Smith at 172. 168 is much more accessible to him and his promoter than 175lbs and because he vacated he'd have first dibs as mandatory to pretty much anyone at 168lbs regardless of the promoter. Hell no Floyd would be the dumbest person alive to unretire to fight Golovkin, never agreed with that fight even at 154lbs. Ward is at lhw now and people need to accept that andre ward for all hi talents does not have mastery over father time himself.

                  And who are they exactly?

After Ward beat Rodriguez in late 2013, he said publicly that he wanted the Golovkin fight.

GGG's manager, Tom Loeffler, then said after GGG beat Daniel Geale in mid-2014 that they didn't want the Ward fight because it didn't make "financial sense".

This fairytale about Ward turning down the fight has only come out recently and it's just to fool people who are easily fooled or weren't paying attention at the time.

The president of HBO who still had and still has two contracts with Andre Ward publicly stated and was quoted not on this website but on plenty others that he would be sitting down with Andre Ward to discuss the fight. The only way he could've done that is with Loeffler's permission because the big HBO contract for Golovkin came after that fight failed to be made. See this is what kills me about people bringing up ward, one minute it's "Well he was going through his goosen issue" and the next its "he was never offered the fight"..which one is it?
