It does seem like Povetkin's side has been less vocal than if they wanted the fight immediately.

They'll procrastinate it as long as they can.

Remember, Povetkin asked for a tune-up after the WBC ordered negotiations begin in October for a January fight. Then they scheduled the fight in November knowing they wouldn't be ready for January. Now they're saying April or May. Is Wilder supposed to sit half a year waiting on them?
With Povetkin fighting in early November they could've begun negotiating right afterwards and scheduled the fight sometime in Feb/March - that's not that long a layoff

Povetkin's team is the one that just told the WBC they won't be ready until April or May. It's team Povetkin that's stalling. They've had two opportunities to get the fight negotiated and both times they pushed the fight back.

          Because they're fighting right now.

He was made mando in May in 1 round... Wilder has had 2 fights since then, one fight being just a month after. But since WBC set the negotiations to be in October no matter what and Wilder fighting again in September.... yea... it's Povetkin holding It up

                The story of this match-up.

Both sides saying, "What am I supposed to do? Stay inactive?"

But yea... IIRC, the negotiations were set for October with Jan being the date it must happen...

Hilarious that people point to Povetkin, but he was made the mandatory challenger before all these voluntary fights started.... and they give the excuse of not staying inactive to Wilder even though Povetkin is the one waiting

I think Wilder is hurting himself. I think the WBC shouldn't have given him another optional. Just fight Povetkin already. If you lose, so be it.
