I have a question. The WBC said the winner must fight GGG next or vacate. What if it's a draw?
From the pov of the title the draw is the equivalent of current champ keeping the belt. In order to dethrone the champ, challenger has to win. Otherwise Cotto will have to face his mandatory in GGG. Unless of course WBC will not find a creative way to bend their rules. Which will not surprise anyone...

People can't seriously be implying that Cotto is afraid of anyone. Who the hell hasn't this guy fought over the course of his career? Win or lose, he's been in with every great fighter from the previous generation, spanning 4 weight classes.

This doesn't apply to Cotto though, because he's holding a belt hostage. He can be the A-side all he wants, but he still has to defend the belt, and he has to pay big money for any in ring advantages he wants. Saying "catchweight or no fight, AND you aren't getting anything for it" is BS, and I'm a big time Cotto fan.

Team GGG has made it clear that they'll leave 160 for the right amount of money. I don't know if Cotto has the budget, but most fighters will afford certain advantages to their opponent if they're compensated properly. Leonard-Hagler is a good example.

... So -- here they go again... RN & Cotto "are gonna make him pay" for Ward? Ward's "seriousness" (when "calling" GGG) has been proven already: next, he's fighting that old SMW at a catchweight above SMW. But nevermind.

Headline should read: Cotto afraid of Golovkin!

Sorry but he can vacate the belt if he gets by Canelo this has to stop.

It is what it is bro. Boxing has become a game of who's got the pull. And Gi Gi is now using his pull. He's talking A-side and fights having to make "financial sense". All I'm saying is don't cry when they do it to you.

Well put. The GGG shadow will hang over Cotto's career whether he likes it or not.
