So its off to obscurity for him, he's gonna have to come down or go up a division (oh wait Ward is there, so he's stuck) Cotto or Canelo can face bradley, thurman or a host of other boxers, lil g will fade to black, he only has a few years left

He doesn't need a belt handed to him as much as he needs a big win againt a big name, big money fighter. GGG might have a strong following in the boxing world but as his ppv numbers show, he's not yet a household name, a win over Canelo or Cotto would make him one.

Originally posted by HURTFEELINGS View PostI dont really care, I figured Canelo would because of his size, but if he doesnt want to fight at that weight, the reality is that it will hurt Lil g more than it would canelo or Cotto. He will have to come down in weight or go up one division if he wants a big fight and if he fights cotto/or canelo they are gonna use his last ppv #'s against him at the negotiations table. Most boxers just move up in weight for better comp, but not lil g. So it hurts him in the end.

If Canelo wins, he should either got back to 154 or vacate. He should be held to a different standard than Cotto regarding MW catchweights because: 1) he's actually big enough to be a middleweight; and 2) he has padded his record with wins over overmatched AND outsized opponents (while Cotto has made a career out of fighting bigger men...with an exception or two).
I really think that this is a more important fight for Canelo than Cotto. If Cotto loses, he can ride off into the sunset...maybe have one more easy fight on his way out. IF Canelo loses, where does he go? Does he squeeze back into 154, or does he fight mediocre opponents at MW?
