It sort of reminds me of how biased posters called on Floyd to be taking on fighters like Lara or GGG himself, because they wanted to see him lose so badly

I'm so sorry you fell for team GGG's hyperbole that they'd beat everyone 154-168 or whatever it was. You won't be so easily fooled next time, hopefully.
Man. You can't fight everyone who says your name.

You make choices based off of simple things. They are getting big fights. Getting those belts makes a Ward fight much bigger.

As long as Ward pulls his head out of his ass, better known as the courtroom.

If GGG gets all belts, takes out people like Andrade and Lara and still won't move up, maybe then your logic works.

168 would be competitive for GGG just because of the severe weight disadvantage he'd be given. Ward is really the only legacy fight there, the only other SMW of note is Degale and he really hasn't done much. Abraham is the highest ranked fighter, other than Ward. That says a lot

But I agree, let GGG unify his division, then he can make the decision to move up. He's never going to outgrow 160 at his age, and will always be undersized at 168. I don't see the problem with him only wanting to fight at 168 for big money fights, like Froch in the UK, and previously Chavez. Other fighters do the same exact thing

GGG could probably put on the extra weight.

The only question is would he be as effective. We'll see someday I'm sure.

This was a reply to if GGG can do what Hagler did at 160 which isn't gonna be a logic decision for his team to make. Hagler made 12 defenses as an Undisputed champ in a very strong middleweight division. Unfortunately GGG can't control the talent at 160 and at 33 and only getting older making 12 defenses of an undisputed title wouldn't be realistic, he'd be 40 and the talent pool doesn't look promising for middleweight unless the 154 move up within the next few year . There's a 168 division now unlike back then that's got young history and has shown consistent competitiveness that he can put his stamp on if he moves up after unifying and becoming undisputed.

The 168 is deeper than you think. Abraham is a great name for anyone's resume at the division. Degale is good. Chudinov is a sleeper even though he's undersized. There's always the talk of a froch comeback. Jack if he stays is solid. Groves a mid level top 10 guy that's no easy fight for anyone then you have the Dirrell brothers so aren't that great but are still better than a lot of middleweights today IMO.

if one cuts to 172 the night before and the other weighs 171 taped up in the ring that's only a 1 pound weigh difference!!!

seriously he can't be that ******... can he?

Cotto will weigh 160, and Golovkin will weigh 170.

Nothing wrong with that, I dont see a problem, Golovkin is obviously bigger,

That is what Canelo will weigh, and Cotto didn't try to drain him.

If Golovkin wants to fight Cotto he will have to accept a catchweight for two reasons..... 1) Cotto has a way out, because fans are generally accepting of catchweights..... 2) because Cotto weighs-in at 153..... a catchweight will not happen because Cotto cannot fight Golovkin at 160, it will happen because Cotto doesn't need to.

FACT: catchweights diminish the standards within boxing.
