You are ok with a lineal title not being defended at the full limit?
Once again... Golovkin has said that any fight outside of MW would not be a title fight. He specified that a Ward fight in particular would not be a title fight. What more assurance do you want? Are you that afraid of Ward losing something he has not defended in 4 ****ing years? Any title Ward holds has atrophied and died from inactivity by now.

155-160 is the weight range for middleweight. They can come In anywhere in that range and be a middleweight. 160 is only the upper limit. There is nothing magical about that number. It's just a arbitrary limit set for the purpose of making fights fair and safe for fighters.

Catch weights were invented so that fighters who are clearly in different classes, Cotto and ggg, can fight each other when demanded and be safe for both fighters. Going down to 154 may be dangerous for ggg and going all the way up to 160 May be dangerous for Cotto. The fans want the fight. Meeting in the middle at 157 seems fair for both fighters. The benefit to us fans is that we get a great fight with two superior fighters in the same ring fighting at a weight that's fair to both. Fans win. The fighters win. Let the best man that night win. It will be one to remember.

So wtf is the deal with all the hate with the catch weight. It's been Halle I got for decade and without them is fans would have been without many great fights.
And Cotto and Golovkin, both holding MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLES are CLEARLY NOT IN DIFFERENT WEIGHT CLASSES. Therefore, no catchweight should even be discussed or considered by ANY fan of the sport of boxing.

When has Golovkin EVER struggled to make weight? Not once has he even had to strip down to make weight. For the Lemieux fight, GGG was at 165 30 days before the fight. That is hardly struggling to make weight.

I'm not sure how people can still defend a catchweight between 2 title holders in the same division. The guy wants to fight in the 160 divison against 160 fighters for the 160 title but doesn't want to fight at the 160 limit? Lol.

He has to beat Canelo first.... That I highly doubt.

If Golovkin doesn't want to agree to a catchweight, he has that right and if the fight is sent to a purse bid, it will be at the regular 160 pound max, i.e no catchweight. Both sides would likely try to avoid a purse bid though and perhaps something could be worked out. Who knows.
            I agree.

I also follow ggg for the past 3 or so years and it's evident he has a strong desire to fight Cotto. He respects Cotto and wants the challenge so he can have his first signature fight and possibly win. I think ggg moves mountains to make fight happen. He would gladly go down to 154 for Floyd. I'm certain he'd go down to 157ish for Cotto. Ggg will not let this fight disappear over a couple pounds.
I for one want the fight. It would be both fighters greatest challenge to date

[QUOTE=OnePunch;16141209]when you strap a middleweight title around your waist and decide to defend it, you're a middleweight.

He had the option of doing a Roy Jones at heavyweight "1 and done" type fight for the sake of history, or whatever. Now that he is defending the title, he's a middleweight. Period.[/QUOTE

You have a valid point. I think both of our views are valid. So I think natas view may be best. That is if they both agree And its within the mw limits then let the fight happen in peace.

Did you watch Floyd vs canelo. Wtf do u think canelo is gonna do to Cotto? Not very much I suspect. Punchers chance. Cotto is t trading with canelo. So it's about to be a wash.

Cotto already in denial. Cotto is property of Mexico as of next month.

He's the lineal champ bro. Would be a great accomplishment for ggg.

Yea neither side should wanna eff with a purse bid situation. For the amount of money on the line I think GGG & K2 will see the upside of giving in to Cotto's likely weight demands.

I think Cotto is one of the most attractive opponents for GGG at 160 regardless if Cotto beats Canelo so I suspect this fight will be on deck sometime next year unless Cotto retires & GGG & K2 will still find a catchweight ultimately an agreeable demand since there is so much money involved in a GGG vs Cotto fight on PPV either in early 2016 or later 2016.

I mean does anyone think GGG is losing if they fight at 157 lol? If GGG can make an extra $5M+ or so for fighting Cotto & giving up 3lbs instead of Tuneano Johnson or w/e his name is for $5M+ less you don't think GGG & K2 will see the upside in losing that 3lbs? I
