Proof of this is the fact that people are trying to discredit Gonzalez which tells me what we already know, is that most people don't follow those smaller weight classes. So if you don't follow all of boxing how the *** are you qualified to put together a P4P List. Gonzalez is the Real Deal, sorry but in Gonzalez case, looking at Boxrec don't work because most won't know or recognize the names he fought because again, nobody watches those smaller Divisions

Exactly what I was going to post. So based on some peoples argument, Andre Ward should be #1 which is funny because I am sure that is not who they're trying to make a argument for

But yeah the other fighters people want to be #1 don't have the resume or the big win for that #1 Spot either.
see what I mean with hipsters of boxing

I follow the low weightclasses which is why I know how shallow the talent pool is...

If Shinsuke Yamanaka is one of the ten best fighters in the world(just needed a gift to get past Mares' son), we live in a downright pathetic era of boxing....

Not everybody on here is a casual as you suggest and no matter if you agree or not, opinions of experts DO matter.

Hipsters are needed to balance out casuals. Just over a year or so ago you had a pound for pound list with Canelo, Broner and Robert Guerrero. When you have a panel of both you can come up with an accurate where opinions can balance out the bias. The Ring ratings are now put together by an editorial board so there is no "hipster bias" one way or another.

Whenever someone's "go to guy" isn't #1 there will be a lot of complaining.

Pound for pound is strictly opinion based and can't be proven one way or the other. Gonzalez can't fight Wlad or GGG or Rigo or Ward to prove he is better pound for pound. There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to pound for pound ratings. There are only different opinions. If you don't think Gonzalez is pound for pound the best then he isn't and that's the correct answer for you. I think there is a good case to be made that Gonzalez is the best pound for pound. He has never lost a fight or been knocked down. He has defeated lots of good to very good boxers and usually by KO. I have seen him fight and he is amazing. He fights with great speed, skill and power. GGG is another guy who always wins by KO and so far almost never loses more than a round or two in any fight. No boxer has ever knocked him down or even hurt him. Whoever you think is pound for pound the best is the right answer for you and nobody can prove you wrong.

When Ring had Broner, Canelo and Guerrero in the p4p, it was goldenboy using it as propaganda and no more proof needed than their sudden change from a panel list to a Chuck Giampa list to try and pin all the backlash on him.

The backlash was too much and they reverted to the old panel.....which is full of hipster boxing writers.....I mean, I like Dougie but the man is one of the most hipsterish when it comes to pushing the lower weightclasses.

Sure there's a right and a wrong. It's like saying that Fury deserves to be ranked higher than Wlad P4P simply because he's undefeated.

There's no way, with Gonzalez's competition he deserves to be ranked higher than say, Ward or Pacquiao. There's just no way.

Somebody has to be no. 1 , that's just the way it is.

Ward is active now and was no. 2, so to me, there's no doubt that he becomes no. 1 now. Just because he has not been fighting doesn't mean he didn't earn it before and wasn't the same fighter when he blew Smith away.

People love rating fighters P4P #1 who get hit a lot. In his last good fight against Yaegashi, his defense was terrible. He took so many senseless combinations to the head, it reminded me of Arturo Gatti the way he was taking those combinations from Yaegashi without covering himself, his head just bouncing allover the place, coming back with combinations of his own in those back and forth exchanges. "The Eye Test", I don't see it, I don't see it, i'm not impressed. The resume is terrible. His accomplishments are good but that's all he has. No where #1 P4P.

My reply wasn't directed at anybody in particular but if the shoe fit then shut the *** up and walking it off...

You know what is also annoying, sensitive casuals who hate being called out for their lack of knowledge

Not about knowing more than the next fans or to question the next fans on his knowledge of the sport of boxing. If I see BS I will call it out and trying to question Gonzalez status as one of the Best P4P if Utter Bull**** and it is fans of other fighters looking for ways to downgrade Gonzalez so they can elevate their favorite fighter higher.
