The really small weights have such a shallow talent pool.......not as bad as women's sports, but close.........

Consider the active boxers on boxrec:

    #ofboxers weight

    263 105
    507 108
    700 112
    634 115
    855 118
    1172 122
    1321 126
    1220 130
    1800 135
    1649 140
    1772 147
    1512 154
    1303 160
    1013 168
    1075 175
    1059 200
    1166 200+

With the economics of the sport, even world class fighters in the very low weight classes are full time fishermen in asia and you know it.....

His resume has 1 really good win in it(Estrada)....and he didnt exactly look great against Estrada(in Estrada's first world experience).....

Roman passes the eye test, and has accomplished what's possible considering the opposition available in the lowest weights......but until him and Estrada rematch(now that estrada has risen above the rest just like Roman), rating him in the top 5 is ludicrous....but the hipsters of boxing have shamed people into doing it.

People rated Floyd after 49-0 as #1 albeit it was very calculated, home advantage, your own rules, your own referee and so and so on...
So would I get angry with someone having Roman Gonzalez as #1 when he's done it the right way, the fair way and beat those guys with style?
No, I don't agree with them but I can think of plenty less deserving guys than Gonzalez that would bother me i.e. Andre Ward, Danny Garcia, Rigondeaux and so on.

For me its definitely Wladimir Klitschko as number one but with the current P4P ranking we run the risk of seeing GGG ranked as number 1 very soon If Wladimir slips up (not a bad thing it will just bring about a lot of butthurt cry babies on here talking more ****).

Wrong, Ward needs to prove himself all over again.
You don't get any favours in the boxing world when you've beat nobodies like who ummm Smith and?

Andre Ward is on verge to enter maybe top 20 with another fight but what weighs on him making top 10 is him fighting someone like DeGale or maybe... pfft its hard to say the 168 division is dead.
Its either get a big fight with GGG at catchweight or wait for Golovkin to throw you a bone or go to 175lbs for him to make any real statement for top 3.

Boxrec top 10 isn't fully correct but the top 5 is right.

Been touting him for years. Looked so damn exquisite every time I watched. It's nice to see him finally get some shine but IDK about pound for pound #1. A rematch against Estrada would be nice.

Pound for pound lists are subjective and based on opinions and hypotheticals. Sadly, in boxing it is ****** to base rankings on resumes since some fighters literally never get opportunities to fight so called great fighters.

hopefully the estrada rematch is next. viloria and marquez are good opponents in terms of name value so if roman and estrada both look impressive in victory then the rematch will be fully ripe. question: if estrada wins the rematch, does he take #1 spot?

It's been a recognized ranking for a long, long time now. It's the opinion of a lot more knowledgeable experts than 99% of the posters on here so I consider it to have actual weight, even if it is based on opinions.

He looks no more dominant to me than Donaire and Darchinyan looked. No more special than Johnny Tapia was.

It is all opinions, it is no such thing as an OFFICIAL P4P Ranking! ESPN, Ring, Boxrec those are all Opinions nothing more nothing less so why do some people take it so serious. People take them so serious because they really don't follow boxing, these are Casuals pretending to be hardcore boxing fans. Proof of this is the fact that people are trying to discredit Gonzalez which tells me what we already know, is that most people don't follow those smaller weight classes. So if you don't follow all of boxing how the *** are you qualified to put together a P4P List. Gonzalez is the Real Deal, sorry but in Gonzalez case, looking at Boxrec don't work because most won't know or recognize the names he fought because again, nobody watches those smaller Divisions

Exactly what I was going to post. So based on some peoples argument, Andre Ward should be #1 which is funny because I am sure that is not who they're trying to make a argument for

But yeah the other fighters people want to be #1 don't have the resume or the big win for that #1 Spot either.
