Now they're deflecting to Mayweather whi moved up from 130 to 154 and established himself as the greatest fighter of this generation. Trying to compare q fighter who achieved greatness to a fighter that fears greatness.

My deflection is only meant to point out the hypocrisy of many of the posters hounding on GGG for not fighting Ward. But anyway, I don't see how it would be as meaningful because we don't know what GGG would have weighed or looked like at either the weigh in or the fight at the higher weight. Ward weighed in at just shy of 172, and then had a convincing performance at that weight (in the sense that he did not appear to be sluggish or otherwise affected by the weight at least). That means a lot about what we could expect from him at 175, and the fact that GGG is willing to move to 168 for the right fights only proves that he is capable of considering a fight at that weight. Because Ward has demonstrated the ability to move up in weight competitively, I'm surprised everyone isn't constantly pressing him about Kovalev.

At any rate, I do think the GGG camp is dodging this fight at the moment. I think they are trying to find a balance in not outright coming out and saying no to a fight and also not trying to take a fight that might spoil a fight against the Cotto/Canelo winner which would be worth a lot more money. As far as what GGG himself thinks, I'm not sure. If anything, he is probably more confident than his team that he'd win the fight.

        He beats GGG simple.

I would love to see it but I want to see it where neither fighter has some sort of weight advantage. They are currently fighting 2 weight classes apart. Therefore GGG would have to move up from a weight where he is very comfortable at or Ward would have to drain himself and come down.

I'm a boxing fan and I want Ward to fight the top SMWs. Let GGG establish himself as the undisputed best MW before calling for him to fight the best SMWs. Give me Ward-Degale and GGG-and the winner of Cotto-Canelo then maybe I'll be interested.

i want to see it - after golovkin has cleaned out middleweight. why would any boxing fan rather see just ggg-ward instead of both ggg-alvarez and ggg-ward? personally i'd like to get the bottom of why some people are so eager to criticise ggg when he has done nothing wrong

You made the assumption that I want it now. I'm referring to the fanboys that don't want it period.

I wholeheartedly believe that Ward wins, but I wouldn't actually mind the match-up if GGG had actually done something meaningful @168 (i.e. beat Abraham/DeGale). When moving to a new weight, a fighter probably shouldn't fight the best guy first; GGG needs to work his way up to Ward. I was fine with Froch/GGG, decent risk and it would lead to people comparing Ward's and GGG's performances.

Is he even the best any more? would you pick him against DeGale or even Dirrell on the Smith showing? If I were to pick him it would be on reputation, not what he has shown of late.

You do, but I'll state the obvious anyway, Floyd fans want Golovkin to lose and they think Ward's the man to do it. Some GGG fans want Ward to fight Kovalev because they think Kovalev is the man to beat Ward. It's infantile, but there you go.

They are two divisions apart. GGG must prove himself first as a super middleweight and by that time Ward won't be able to make 168 any more. It's bad timing.
