True or False: James Toney's win over Michael Nunn is better than any win of Floyd's?

It proves Nunn was an absolute top fighter that he couldn't just get outpointed with ease.
Are you comparing Rahman's fluke win with Toney? Or Nunn? Either or, it's a completely ridiculous comparison.

Floyd has no wins comparable to either. I'm not a Floyd hater either, he's undefeated, the most successful boxer of this generation and watching him fight over the years has been nothing but an honour to witness, his defensive skills are astounding as is his speed and footwork. At the lower weight classes he was a ferocious combination puncher who methodically drilled his opponents into submission.
Welterweight "Money" Mayweather hasn't lived up to the reputation he laid the foundations for in his earlier career though, sadly. I don't think he fought a single prime Welterweight without some form of stipulation in his favour involved.

I would say Corrales and Castillo are arguably just as good if not better.
Pacquaio is defintely better than both and I'd make an argument for Canelo aswell.
Probably some others that I've forgotten.
I wouldn't say Pavlik was any better than beating Hatton or atleast it's arguable.

There's a point, but Meldrick Taylor in my opinion was a top class win.
But he said those guys didn't have top wins? I wasn't comparing him to Floyd. Hopkins does have top wins, specifically Trinidad obviously. Just mentioned Tarver and Pavlik as top wins too - Not in the Nunn class obviously. And I agree Mayweather has many wins like that.
I didn't mention Tszuy, he did!
Tszuy shouldn't even be mentioned in this discussion, hence I'll let it be. Nobody considers him in the same stratosphere as a Mayweather, let alone a Sugar Ray Robinson.
I'm not saying he's an ATG, but Taylor was an awesome fighter at his absolute peak who Chavez beat. If he hadn't lost to Chavez who knows what would have happened.
Lol, Gavilan and Robinson fought in '48 & 49' or something like that.
Trinidad was prime and undefeated. There's absolutely no doubt he was in his prime.
I would say Trinidad most definitely was not in his prime when Hopkins fought him.
I always thought Taylor, like most fighters with extremly fast hands and Atheltic ability, was very overrated. Good fighter of course very good but not really that good in regards to how we're talking here.
There's no point even talking about Robinson obviously his resume is absolutely stellar.

Even if Pavlik was at 170.
Pavlik also fought Taylor @ 170 before Hopkins.Last edited by LacedUp; 08-28-2015, 03:10 PM.

Not saying it's definite I just think that Canelo is as good a fighter as those two. I don't really rate those two that highly.

Anybody can luck up and win a fight that they were not supposed to for one big win in their career
its like saying has Buster Douglass win over a prime Mike Tyson is better than any of Pacquaio's wins....does that really matter, when you have a better overall body of work??? Manny has a better resume and beat better overall competition than Tyson so what does that kinda question really prove?
