Dude was an animal, relying on instinct and athleticism, not his analytical prowess.
No he was not the same. But Pacquiao trying to fight smart is probably the reason he made some rounds close with Floyd. Had he gone in reckless like he used to he probably would have ate more shots. But like I said Floyd was also a lot sharper five years ago. He would have been at an advantage back in 2010 just as he was in 2015. After the Cotto fight Pac's doctors advised him not to fight in 2010 because of the damage done to his eardrum. Had he and Mayweather fought when everyone wanted to see this fight he would have been at a disadvantage still. According to Freddie Manny had a better chance at beating 38 year old Floyd than he did against 33 year old Floyd.

My point is Floyd would have likely beaten Manny at any stage of their careers. He was the betting favorite for a reason.

I'm not arguing that last point, Mayweather is too good to give that size advantage to. That reach deficit was huge in the fight. End of the day, like I said, Floyd will be remembered as waiting for Pac to slide

But it is kind of unfair considering that Pac's team walked away from the initial negotiations. Freddie is on tape admitting that the fight not happening the first time was their fault.

Wouldn't have been an issue if Floyd didn't "retire" in 08. newsflash, life isn't fair.

Floyd's retirement in 2008 has nothing to do with the Pacquiao fight. That fight wasn't even being take seriously until 2009. People always accuse a boxers retirement of a way to "duck" fights. They did it with Sugar Ray Leonard and they did it with Lennox Lewis. If you retire at the top "you're ducking" but if you keep fighting past your best days you're "washed up." People will always find an excuse.

And I'm sorry but because things aren't fair does not make them right or accurate.

With the mention of Rocky Marciano I think It'd be fair to say that Floyd decided to pick the fight with Manny Pacquiao six years when he went through losses against Bradley (controversial) and Juan Manuel Marquez KO loss instead of fighting him right after the dominating win over Miguel Cotto.

The thing is can we really take a fighter serious who is suppose to be rated with the greats of Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali when he dictated so much of his career on when he decided to fight his opponents?
For me this is a massive deduction to credit and legitimacy to rating of his overall career and partly why he wont be rated higher than Manny Pacquiao overall in the ratings.

To be a great it means more than waiting out and making smart decisions i.e. when a fighter is past his best that is a smart decision but not something which proves you as the best quality fighter this is why someone like Wladimir Klitschko deserves to be rated ahead of him, you just simply cannot always determine your opponents all the time and expect to be rated as the number one not only does Wladimir pick the better opponents but he is the better ambassador for the sport who doesn't disrespect the sport of boxing with any criminal behavior win or loss against Tyson Fury it is clear as day that Wladimir is being unfairly treated because of the hype around Floyds name not the accomplishments of the man.
                1. SRR has fought the most bums in history Lol Most of his opponents have about 20-50 losses a piece. He has about 37 credible opponents and maybe even less.

                2. Floyd's past few opponents are his best because of circumstances. Him being 37yrs old Walking down Canelo who was 22yrs old and 165lbs. A 37yr old SRL would've gotten his azz whipped, and even in his prime, he may beat or KO that version of Canelo. But he wouldnt stand in front of him without getting grazed.

All of his recent fights he has been greatly disadvantaged by size and age. Those are his most dangerous opponents. That very same version of Canelo would destroy a 135lb Genero, Too big and strong. I have Floyd top 5 all time mostly because of his last few fights.
