thats the thing that gets me. people make it seem like floyd is 25 or some ish. If floyd lost it would be front page news even tho he is past prime and has been for a while.

But, whenever guys make the statement that someone didn't fight another in their prime or when they were at their best, they are overlooking a glaring contradiction. Floyd in his earlier years was a lot more dangerous than he is in his latter years. So, if we move the clock back for one, the clock also gets moved back for the other.

Furthermore, we can find public records of Floyd in his younger years calling out everybody and no one wanted to fight him. Google is your friend!

This is especially true for Cotto, Mosley, Casamayor, DLH and Tzsu.

      Google the video:
Floyd calls out Kostya Tszyu, Sugar Shane Mosley, and Oscar De La hoya in 2005

      *******

I stated all that, to say that hater's seem to have selective memory when it comes to Mayweather, dismissing factual accounts and dismissing actual events in the process.
Brilliant post. I've noticed haters generally lack logic and dismiss facts just to prove their argument.

There's a thread where you voted Guerrero as a top 10 P4P fighter

Of course he is overrated, he rarely fought someone in his prime.

Did Floyd have multiple TKO/KO's? Did Floyd have a career full of wars? Did Floyd have a 16 month lapse between fights followed by back to back training camps due to a fight falling out?

Are you saying WW was Pac's best weightclass?

Pacquiao being KO'd has nothing to do with Floyd. Even if the two had fought five years ago when everybody had wanted to see this fight Pacquiao had already been KO'd twice, had been in several wars, and even had his right ear drum caved in. Pac's doctors advise not to even fight in 2010 because of the punishment he had been receiving. You could argue Floyd would have had an advantage at any time he and Pac chose to fight. Freddie Roach was quoted as saying Floyd would have had a better chance at beating Manny back then...

Floyd is also well past his sell by date but he still gets the job done.

Are you really arguing that Pac was the same before and after JMM's KO? His fighting style changed significantly after that KO. He became more of a boxer, cautious which played right into Floyd's strength. Once Floyd makes you think, he's won and Pac became a thinker, and lost because of it. Dude was an animal, relying on instinct and athleticism, not his analytical prowess.

After he retires, he will be forgotten (not by everyone, but most). He doesn't have a fight that people will never forget (except for the De La Hoya, Canelo and Manny letdowns). I actually can't wait till he retires, his fights are boring.
I have been thinking about a similar point to this since the Pacquiao fight was such a huge letdown. When Jr. retries, what are the big moments we will remember? When I think of the all time greats, I think of their defining moments in the ring. Jr. hasn't really ever had a memorable fight that will stand the test of time. He is talented as hell but I will remember him as a guy that once he got paid he often took the easier fights when there were better options and left the sport for large amounts of time to avoid the biggest challanges. I can't think of one memorable fight on his resume. Will he be remembered for all the money he made or will he be quickly forgotten outside of his hardcore fans once he is done?
