Comments Thread For: Wilder Has 30% Chance To Beat Povetkin, Says Alekseev

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) is back on September 26th on Premier Boxing Champions, but he won't be facing his mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21 KOs) next month, or even this year.

But Wilder will have to face Povetkin within the next year. The World Boxing Council will order negotiations in October and they expect the two fighters to battle in early 2016.

Former top cruiserweight Alexander Alekseev says Wilder is a good talent, but doesn't have enough experience to face the Olympic gold medal winner Povetkin.

This fight (if it ever happens) will show Earl and other Bum Squad members what pedigree means.. Wilder will look like a complete novice. Of course thereīs a chance for a lucky punch this being the HW division, but thatīs all Wilder has on Povetkin.

I can see why Wilder is reluctant to come to an arrangement now for a mandatory defence: he can milk the belt a little longer, and if the Povetkin bout goes to purse bids, he'll likely score a massive pay day.

Still, these accusations and demands (PEDs; the fight must happen in the US; he wants to have a few tunes before the fight) are growing tiresome.

              No ****! I couldn't believe what I read those first 2 posts!

Must be an Afro-American thing or something! LOL

This lucky punch business I would have factored in until I seen Wilder fail to KO a near death Stiverne.

There is no way that also iron chinned Povetkin who was never once knocked down in approximately 300 fights until he met Wlad and never KOed and who fights much harder than Stiverne ever does and is far more defensive than the Stiverne of that fight, gets wasted by Wilder.

In my opinion the Stiverne fight has exposed Wilder's power as not so mighty against top level opposition. And that shouldn't be a surprise!

              ^THIS!!

I don't know who is advising him on these decisions OR advising him to publically embarrass himself by declaring it all but they ****ing suck at their job!

Worst way to cash out ever!

I can imagine if this **** continues, Wilder's stock may even start to drop even BEFORE someone lays him out! LOL

Deontay is big, brash, slick and AMERICAN. He is the true, legitimate world heavyweight champ and he doesn't need to fight that pasty eurobum Povetnik to prove it. Ya'll can see who's best just by looking at them, but ya'll too racist to admit it.

Soon Al Haymon, the Saviour of Boxing, will end this bullshit when he straps the PBC world title belt round Deontay's waist and throws the WBC belt in the trash can where it belongs.

What offer has there been from Povetkin's team?

It seems to be in their interests to let the fight go to a purse bid. They don't want the fight now either.

I hope the purse bid is won by the Russian boxing promoter (I forget his name) and Wilder is forced to defend his title in Russia. Wilder has had it way too easy for way too long.
