It's not like Povetkin hasn't looked like **** before either. I have Wilder in the fight, I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed.
A lot of people would be surprised too.

I favour Povetkin, but it wouldn't shock me if Wilder beat him. Povetkin struggled with Wlad's height and reach. Wilder is even taller and rangier than Wlad.

If I was Al Haymon and I had to pick a top 5 opponent for Deontay, Povetkin would be my pick.

Are you serious? Another tune-up? He's the freaking WBC Heavyweight champion. Don't win a strap if all you want to do is fight tune-ups! Got dang I hate this ages boxer's mindsets. It's a crying shame when instead of fighting who you're supposed to fight nowadays you have to be forced to by purse bids being ordered.

The Povetkin fight's not happening until the spring. And that's if they don't want to head directly toward Klitschko and a cash out. Can't have Wilder getting knocked off too early and the Molina fight was alarming.

wouldn't wilder & co. actually earn more against povetkin than wlad, if cashing out is the plan?

            I don't think so.

Pretty sad that he wont fight Povetkin, I think it might be because he knows that when it comes to bidding that the Russians will outbid anyone and take this fight straight to Russia which will put Wilder totally out of his comfort zone.
Its sad because I'd actually like to see Wilder living up to his potential, beat those big names and give us/everyone less reason to doubt you.

They should take the fight already and period. They can't avoid it without vacate the belt (which they won't)no matter how hard they're trying.

Or maybe, just maybe they shouldn't feed just cab drivers to Wilder before Stiverne and they shouldn't have to continue to fed him with cab drivers. And after that they will be surprised if he gets KO-ed? Or what did they think? That if Wilder wins the WBC belt there won't be mandatories?
Sorry, I'm not a Wilder hater at all but this is just ridiculous. If he is a champion then don't comes to me with the talk that anything would be too early of him. He had 30 or so fights to built himself up. Step by step. But what he did instead? Beat up only cab drivers, then Scott then Stiverne. He is a naturally gifted and talented fighter with 34 fights, with the experience of a 22 years old newbie. Haymon fucked this up badly.

They CAN'T avoid the Povetkin fight because in this very situation he can't just vacate his belt in hope that he will get it back shortly, like Quillin tried.

                    Who said anything about avoiding?

Team Wilder will procrastinate this fight as long as possible. His team has always taken a risk adverse approach of selecting opponents but he will ultimately have to face mandatory challenger Povetkin if he wants to keep his belt.

That said, Wilder should fight Glazkov in September as a 'warm up' to Povetkin. Glazkov is a durable guy and will give better experience than an out-of-shape past prime Chris Arreola
