What needs to be done imo is to harness the Mexican-American audience out West in the same way as Golovkin. Kovalev was mobbed by fans at a recent event in CA (can't recall which fight it was), Main Events have been wasting time trying to build him up in Atlantic City trying to create another Gatti, it's never gonna happen.

I'm not saying he has to burn the flag everyday and support ISIS but think he could be a perfect Villian in boxing.

I never really thought about Kov being a bad guy until Monaco posted it but he's Born in country that was a former bitter enemy of the States , Deadly power ( literally ) , Evidence of perceived racist behaviour , Most likely the best fighter in his division ( Just imagine how you could hype a Ward / Kov fight ) . He basically could be a real life Ivan Drago if marketed right, Americans would be itching for the guy to lose.

I think most rationale people would realize it's mostly a act. I think he'd be perfectly safe to walk and live in most part of the States

Your probably right about building him out West. F.uck copying GGGs PR strategy , that's Gennady lane plus for whatever reason I don't think Kov comes across as likeable as GGG to most fans. Burn your own trail he doesn't need to pander to Mexicans , fight fans will watch him regardless because he's a bad as.s motherfu.ck.er that Knocks people out( I'm not really a fan of him but watch him ). They'd never try this with Kov but I just thought buddy posted a good idea and I think it'd be hilarious to watch it.

Not saying pander to Mexicans, just fight out West where people will actually turn up to watch.

He brings no gate in on the East coast. From memory he was only pulling around 1500 against the likes of Agnew/Caparello, that's not good.

Sorry misread what you wrote , thought you meant how GGG adopted " Mexican style " or whatever . Agree that attempting to build him out West seems like a logical step, You'd think he'd draw better out there.

Think Main Events could do a better job with him.

So sure... let Haymon continue to give away free tickets and continue to operate his cards at a huge loss. He only damages himself.
          Lol, exactly.

I didn't know Don King wasn't Black. I do know he was a mainstay in boxing for a very long time and nobody was bothered by that.

Why bother with negotiating the fight when everyone knew the outcome before the attempt was even made? Duva is seemingly loyal to HBO, while Michel seems happy with the relationship with Showtime; take the fight to bid, see who has the most money backing the fight, and that promoter will get to present the fight as they see fit.

To try and act as if Duva and Michel stalling the fight out for another month would've done anything is laughable.

Let's be honest, is anyone actually going to watch Flores-Shumenov?

Yes. I'll be watching the card instead of Kovalev-Mohammedi (interested in seeing how good Jordan Shimmel is, and personally think that Flores-Shumenov will be the better fight than Kovalev-Mohammedi.

Settling for lower quality boxing just because it's been touched by Haymon. I bet you'd pull a Quillin and retire from watching the sport if anything happened to Al.

Mohammedi is a **** fight; watched the Dudchenko fight and can't say that I was impressed with him. You add that the bout sheet has no other fights that look competitive on it, and the move was an easy decision.

Call it "lower quality boxing" all you want, you can't sit here, today, and earnestly predict who's going to win Shumenov-Flores, but you can confidently predict that Mohammedi doesn't make it past 8 rounds, at least from the look of things heading in. You add that the Haymon show is available on basic cable, and it makes the choice even easier.

If Haymon were to vanish from the face of the Earth today, I'd still be a boxing fan, looking for good fights and good fight cards to watch (the upcoming ShoBox quadruple header being one of those), catching every Andre Ward fight, full stop.

I wouldn't waste my time with another nothing fight by Kovalev, especially with a card that looks softer than the dud that Main Events laid out for Kovalev's last fight.

Would tune in for Cotto-Canelo and likely Klitschko-Fury, but the rest of the nonsense from HBO isn't worth my time.

As mediocre as Flores is, Shumenov is awful at LHW (Nadjib W KO), and cruiser is a big jump.
