I have enjoyed the HW fights this year so far, I have to be honest here I didn't give Molina much of a chance, I give him a whole lot of credit and Wilder showed some real class giving Molina some credit last night, for hanging in there. I've enjoyed all the fights last night and all the opponents that were not supposed to win tried there hardest to win, and as a boxing fan that's all we want, big credit to Molina, Narjera, and Marriaga. For making it an interesting night of boxing.

I just think that Wilder is very overrated. He has poor fundamentals. He has power and has developed a mediocre jab, and little else. His defense is poor. There is a lot of stuff he can improve on, which bodes well for him. But I think he was maneuvered into a title and never had to face real tests, and that leads me to impulsively be a bit more harsh.
Deontay Wilder is basically Michael Grant 2.0. I think Grant was perhaps better though.

Wilder showed he can box against stiverne. that fight really impressed me. He answered many questions I had. He got dropped by Harold sconiers so that had many people wondering what kind of chin does he have. Amateur fights I don't look at. He was like 200lbs then not the solid 230 he is now. I think he had more trouble with Molina because he overlooked him & wanted to put on a show. Molina caught him with a solid hook in the 3rd but he recovered. He took the foot off the gas a bit in the 8th & Molina landed some good shots to the body. He put his foot down on the gas in the 9th & it was over. It took me a long time to take wilder seriously. He destroyed all journeymen & if you think about it he blew out malik scott & liakhovich pretty easily which I didn't see coming. We will see what he is really made of when he fights povetkin. Povetkin has been in beast mode since his loss to klitschko. knockouts of charr, takam & perez. All 3 were top 10 WBC guys...

Michael grant went the distance lots & fought way better competition going up the ranks. Michael grant never got enough credit. He beat some good fighters but was no where near ready for lennox lewis. After that 5 million payday & a long layoff he came back only to blow his knee out against jameel mccline. He was never the same after that.
The book on Wilder isn't yet written but Grant fought much better fighters. Lewis of old would destroy Wilder. Klitscho would absolutely slaughter him. Povetkin is going to take his head off if/when they fight.
Wilder's fans are clueless. I use to like Wilder. But he lost me along the way.
If he beats Povetkin I'll eat my words.
Povetkin is going to destroy him.

Which leads me to my point. Yes, Deontay looked like ****. Yes, he's a paper champ. And yes, he was tested by a guy that probably shouldn't have even been approved by the commission. But from what I saw last night, Deontay is very good for boxing, which is why I don't understand all the hate for him on this site. Yes, he's been protected and spoon fed. Yes, he was basically handed a belt. But, he's a big punching American heavyweight that's flawed, and makes exciting fights. Isn't that what everyone wants?
