Ward needs to win his comeback fight first and then have another tune up at 168, the man has been off for almost 2 years, he's definitely not ready for Kovalev now, I'd like to see him regain the title at 168 and then wait for GGG to move up to him ir to move up and fight a guy like Fonfara then fight Kovalev.

I got him beating GGG at 168 even with his B game, but Kovalev is a different kind of animal and I have to see how good Ward looks in his next couple of fights before I give a prediction.

        What hypocrisy!

2 of these guys (GGG, Kovalev) are top level boxers..

        And the other is not!

I can give GGG more of a pass because he comes in at 159 showing he can easily make 160 with no issues. Ward knows that his clinching tactics won't work against Kovalev. Ward sees Kovalev as a threat and it's fairly obvious. Those criticizing GGG should look at what Ward is doing and be more objective. Kovalev vs Ward needs to be made.
Golovkin walked into the ring for the Monroe fight at 170 (likely over that when he physically arrived in the ring. Andre Ward, after sitting on the shelf for almost a year and a half, set 172 as a weight that he believes he can comfortably make without any hassle (when he actually walks into the ring, I doubt that he even ends up putting on more than 5 pounds from the weigh-in)

Sergey Kovalev likely walks into the ring for his fights near 190 pounds.

Ward is terrified of GGG and Kovalev.

I don't think Golovkin needs to rush up in weight and fight Ward when there are still a couple of good fights at 160 to make. Even if Canelo and Cotto are busy in the fall there is still Lee, Lemieux, Quillin.

Ward on the other hand has fought at 175 in the past and has beaten just about everyone he can at 160. He needs to fight Degale/Dirrell winner or Kovalev next.

I understand in the case of a super fight like Chavez Sr vs Whitaker or something like that but none of these fights are super fights or even necessary. Guys like Rigondeaux, Ward, Golovkin, Kovalev, if they have spent their entire careers at their weight class without any weight issues and are grown ass men, not 20 year olds, why are they obligated to move up? They aren't. If they do, cool then there is an obligation to fight the best in the division. Such as Cotto, once he won that belt and decided to stay and defend his belt against a middleweight, there's now an obligation to fight the best since he has the crown.
You're right, there is no obligation. But that's what separates the good fighters from the great ones. If GGG wants a chance to be great he should move up eventually and challenge Ward. Otherwise he won't be remembered at all once he retires.

He won't be remembered if he doesn't fight Ward? Lol ok man. I'm sure if he were to unify the middleweight division, becoming lineal champ, and beat Canelo that alone is something to remember, let alone rack up a bunch of title defenses. Remember, Bernard Hopkins middleweight reign wasn't a whole lot different and he didn't get his big name fight until he was 36 against Trinidad. Hopkins didn't move up in weight until he was 41. Of course I'm not saying GGG will have the longevity of Hopkins, but any legacy he may have certainly doesn't depend on Andre Ward.

GGG and Kovalev are stars who fight on HBO.

Ward is fighting on BET and he is NOT a star and does not have fans.

GGG and Kova just need to rule their divisions and unify, as massive exciting stars it is not their responsibility to go up to different division, unless its a big enough and profitable enough fight to warrant it.

Ward is not a big fight. Therefore, its is Ward's responsibility to make a Kovalev fight happen. Too many jealous Floyd and Ward fans, making asinine arguments.

Kova and GGG rule boxing. Nothing changes that.
Stars based on what? Surely it can't be based on accomplishment and skill because Andre Ward shines in those areas.

GGG and Kovalev are nowhere near stars. What PPV card have either of them headlined?

Andre Ward unified his division. He already fought in the big unification matches in his weight class.

GGG hasn't unified a damn thing. He's basically unproven. His opponents are mostly constituted of average fighters with average to below average skillsets.

Meanwhile Ward has already been in with POUND FOR POUND level comp.

What about GGG? What top 20 pound for pound has he been in with?

Kovalev's best victory is over a 50 year old Bernard Hopkins. LOL! SMH

Kov and GGG are two untested, overrated, hyped, HBO created, slow, modern day Great White Hypes!

Just like the Klitshkos have been feasting on BUMS for decades it seems like, ironically, so have GGG and Kovalev. Hmmmmm...

Terrance Crawford has already been matched tougher than GGG/Kov. So has Canelo and by a wide margin.

GGG and Kov will always be leaps and bounds BEHIND Andre Ward from a skill perspective.

Andre is quicker than both of those stiff backed hypejobs. He fights with more ring intelligence and athleticism. Can't hit what you can't find. Plus his counters are nasty.

Andre will rough both of these boys up real good. After Ward beats either one of these stiff backs, the forum will be crying just as loud as the Pacquiao fan base was on May 3rd. LOL!

Bernard Hopkins has been on record for years now saying he'll never fight Andre Ward. Yet at 50 years old, he risked his health to fight Kovalev. And still went 12 with him. LOL!

Yet believers of the good ol HYPE TRAIN believe these two are ready for Andre Ward.

                      Roger Mayweather never lied.....
