A great little man can beat a average or 'good' big man. A great little man can beat a great big man if the little man have a stylistic edge.
But in the case of Hearns. We are talking about a great big man who Floyd have ZERO stylistic advantages over. Floyd isn't a Hagler like fighter who can brawl. He doesn't have the size or strength of Leonard and he doesn't have the power of Leonard.
Hearns would literally dominate Floyd for 12 rounds. The size difference in this case is just too much of a nightmare. And it's not like Hearns is a big clumsy oaf, guy had ATG boxing skills in the same tier as Leonard/Duran. I think Floyd could avoid getting stopped by Herans if he really tried, but he wouldn't win that many rounds.

Hagler was too big for them to fight.
Leonard would give Floyd trouble for sure. Would have been the two greatest thinkers in the boxing ring ever at one time.
Someone mentioned Vernon Forest, I agree, his reach and jab could have been problems for Floyd.

i don't care about the shoulder injury issue.. but watching the replay of the whole fight specially in slowmo confirms that pacquiao should have won because he landed more than mayweather who just use his sleek moves to looked as if he's dominating pacquiao but when watched in detail floyd just managed to outland pacquiao in rounds 1,5 and 11.. pacquiao outlanded floyd in rounds 2,3,4,6,7,9,10.. they tied at 8 and 12.. and its funny to hear nothing from the biased commentator from hbo and skysports crediting pacquiao whenever he lands a shot on floyd specially when watched in slowmoLast edited by boksingero; 05-10-2015, 12:30 PM.

Clearly Mayweather is the superior fighter between the two, regardless of Pacquiao's injury claim. Floyd demonstrated that he's the best WW of his era. He's earned that distinction.
On another thread someone mentioned that it was on Manny to bring the fight to Floyd. I think most boxing fans shared that viewpoint. They knew Floyd would do what Floyd does to win unless Manny could disrupt that defense-priority style. And Manny was not up to the task.
But Floyd failed too. The fight was a huge event, a world stage on which TBE had the opportunity to display greatness. Instead, he realized after the first round that he had the win in the bag; that, despite Floyd Sr castigating him between rounds to do more, he could coast to a UD victory if he kept to the run, clutch, and pull counter combo. And sure enough, that's what he did.
Essentially, Floyd knew he was the better fighter but was unwilling to risk anything to go for a knock out.
IMO, great fighters leave a resume rich with fights that have fans screaming HOLY FCUK. I wanted Floyd to KO Manny in a stellar performance he could carry to Canestoga. Unfortunately, I was expecting too much. After last Saturday, Floyd will have to continue calling himself TBE because some boxing fans will not.Last edited by Amgwanagitbuti; 05-10-2015, 12:46 PM.
