Comments Thread For: Juan Manuel Marquez Retirement is Coming, Says Nacho

According to longtime trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain, former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, 41-years-old, will announce his retirement in the near future.

Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) has been dealing with an injured right knee for the last year. The injury first came about in early 2014 and he still went forward with a planned fight against Mike Alvarado last May, which the Mexican veteran won with a wide twelve round unanimous decision. That was the last time Marquez entered the ring.

As the months continued, the injury to his knee became worse and he was forced to push back a planned return last fall.

Nacho indicates that his fighter is still dealing with the issue and there appears to be no relief in sight.

Good if he can't get his knee fully then he needs to call it a career,I don't want to see an opportunist taking advantage of his injuries.

Good. He has nothing left to prove. Retire and live it up all the way to the hall of fame. Plus get out of the way and let some young guys come up. And BHop please do the same!

When Pacquiao was 2-0-1 against marquez mexicans were like " pacquiao dont want to give marquez a rematch"
When Marquez finally wins, mexicans be like "He shouldnt give pacquiao a rematch (even tho pacquiao gave him 4 chances) marquez better retire with the win because of his knee doe"
            bunch of hypocrites

there was not a definitive winner in the first three fights, they were all debatable. so manny didn't "give" marquez anything. . in the fourth fight juan put manny in a coffin, that pretty much settles it.
