    Off topic:

why do you think Floyd choose to announce the fight on that fatefull unsignificant day? what purpose does it served?
I didn't ask who is to blame. I asked why in this day and age would you promote this event the same way you would have in the past given the advances in social media?

why would you spend money on flights, hotels, security, food, advance planning, logistics, etc. in 2015?

I don't know why he chose that day. Did it really matter?

Even arum's outdoor stadium was going to max out at 20k seats.

I think its a case of quality seats vs quantity of seats.
with this magnitude I don't think any hardcore or close to being hardcore would even bother to know what kind of seat those chairs are made of. heck i am sure they would not even care to use it the whole time.

boxing fans just want to be there and be part of the history, well of course they want to see the fight too but to care about the quality of the sit?

I thought you were one of the proponents of May 2nd to maximize the profit.

would announcing on Feb 22 as oppose to announcing it on Superbowl matters if maximizing the profit is concern? idk you tell me.

Quality is about closeness to the ring, not material. geez.

Have you ever been to a live fight? If so how many and where?

I've been in venues of every type for live events-hotel ballrooms, small arenas, ringside at MSG, and even in the near nosebleed seats at MGM. I like watching the fights, not watching the TV at a live event.

I get that you want to be there just to be a part of it. cool. I want to be able to see the in ring action and not have to look up at the video screen. That's the experience I pay for when going to a live fight. I could watch video at home.

If you like going to the fight just to go, well to each his own.

Yes, I think May 2nd was the best date to have the fight. As for why the announcement wasn't made during SUperbowl, I don't know.

In the past, that would be the best place to do it because of the concentration of media. Its now 2015. Floyd, I think has like 2-5 million twitter/facebook/instagram, including all the media people at the super bowl. These are now the primary ways athletes communicate with the world. You understand my point?

I am not disagreeing with you in principle, I'm just saying you should expect change to a certain degree.

Mr. Dunn sir, this is once in a lifetime fight its one for the books a history in the making. the choices are have a chance to be there even 50-100 meters away from the ring or watch it on PPV at the comfort of your home tickets to the venue are still available though too expensive you can afford it which one will you choose?

                accepted, with slight reservation

you never answered the question regarding have you been to fights live, and if so where?

I don't really understand but I think you mean:

Would I rather it be at a larger venue where more, less expensive tickets are available or to a smaller venue like MGM which is much more expensive?

I'd choose MGM every time for the reasons I explained before-I value seeing the fight more than I do being part of the atmosphere.

The fight wouldn't be too expensive for me as I am fortunate to earn good money as does my wife. But I have 2 kids under 8 so I make choices dude. SO I'm watching it at home on PPV as I have for all major fights since 2003.

Then you see the point-the world is a much smaller place with social media. You and others are suggesting Floyd spend $1-2 mil on a press tour when he reaches all the same people the press would, and the press, for the cost of joining the social media sites.

i love chino, but that one was staged imo, you can see maidana trying to hold the laughter

I dont agree at all , for example does the superbowl needs promotion ? no , but you get it anyway , you get a great half time show , if it wouldnt happen will fans still stay tune , yes , but for a mega EVENT you want more then just the main course.
you go to the olympics , the open ceremony is glorious , is that a must ? of course not , but it makes the occasion bigger , it builds hype and feeling of greatness towards the event (the walk in has some effect).
its like you will say , lets put a black canvas around the ring , lift it the second they touch gloves , and lets see the fight (this is of course the other side of a "fight only" apporach and i hope it makes you see why its bad).
will it make the fight sell more ? probably , will it make the fight rememberable regardless of the fight , you better believe it (unless it a REAL dud).
