Mayweather is very technically proficient. Probably the most technically proficient fighter I've seen . And one of the best defensive fighter I've seen of all time. Better than willie pep- this guy would occasionally throw punches and leave his feet behind. Lochhe would get hit by short left hooks. He was using the shoulder roll 40 years ago. Ali had amazing reflexes. I say Whitaker and Floyd stand alone.

But those 2 things can work against him in this fight. Floyd sometimes gets caught up in his own defense. Focused so much on not getting hit. That's why oscars jab worked well. It occupied Floyd and disrupts his rhtymn . Vs maidana he was on the ropes and wasn't countering. He let chino shoot his bother then came back with shots.

And he's so technically sound that you kind of know where the punches are gonna come from and there's not gonna be a combination of them because he doesn't wanna leave himself open. For whatever reason, Floyd doesn't stay low and punch up with the right hand and he won't this fight because Mannys the shorter guy. Manny got rocked by Bradley and KO'ed by Marquez by that sort of punch. A punch he didn't see coming.

I can see your point. Floyd is the technically brilliant fighter when compared to Manny, so a lot of people analyzing the fight go on that to say Floyd will win. On paper it looks that way, but fights aren't won on paper. Manny's unorthodox style along with his skills and speed make him a challenge for Floyd and anyone not recognizing that is blind.

However, I disagree that Floyd's punches are easy to tell where they're coming from. He's not so technically sound to be predictable like say, Wlad. He has a very broad offensive arsenal beyond just throwing combos. He frequently changes levels throughout the fight and throws dozens of variations of each punch. If you look at the Guerrero fight, he threw the right hand in like 15 different ways. Guerrero couldn't predict it. Same thing in the Cotto fight. Cotto switched guards to evade the right hand, Floyd altered the punch and threw it around Cotto's guard.

I think the key for Floyd to win this fight is to control the pace. If Manny forces Floyd to fight at high intensity, he takes it. Easily. Floyd won't be able to keep up with him. But if Floyd can slow him down and make him fight a more measured, calculating fight, Floyd wins comfortably.

I will say this though, as one poster said, we really don't know how fast Floyd is. He hasn't really had to fight at a high intensity and the last time I saw glimpses of him being speedier is early in the Ortiz fight. That was years ago and he's no doubt slowed some since, but it gave a glimpse at how quick Floyd can be when he chooses. Maybe it still holds true now. If anyone will make him reveal it though, it's Pac.

Roach is not an idiot bro, he already knows. That's basic boxing common sense that a jab to a southpaw doesn't work the same as an Orthodox fighter.
