I am wondering whether the constant goading from fans, pundits, and even fighters has got to him. Up to this point Floyd has never been distracted from his goal, which is always to win in the easiest manner possible, only a couple of times has he deviated from this, once against Corley where he was hurt and Mosley where he was also hurt, he fought aggressive against Zab and Mitchell but that was the strategy from the beginning and the right one. I am wondering if this time is different, I am still not expecting him too, but he could well be trying to make statement and fighting aggressive against Pacquiao for the wrong reasons.
I think this is a good post.

Have you or anyone you talked to about this consider what would happen if Manny tries to outbox Floyd to a win, say like Canelo?

Not anyone I have talked to, but I have thought about it, the thing is, it is a crazy notion to some people, but to me it is not. I think it will be apart of Manny's overall strategy to fight off the back foot, to draw Floyd on to him at times, he is good enough and fast enough to cause damage like this, and to be honest sometimes it is the only way to find openings against Floyd. The thing with Floyd when he goes on the offensive is, he often throws single punches and falls into a clinch so he doesn't give the other guy the room to throw the counter, almost Klitschko like (lol), but once he gets there he uses his arms and shoulders to position his opponent where he wants them to get off first, and I think Floyd is really tremendous on the inside. Manny will try to avoid the inside and try to catch him coming in. He will to try and stay at mid range and use his foot speed to achieve this, mid range is where he is most effective, and when Floyd does get close Manny will tie him up.

I think there will definitely be passages of the fight which look like the above, especially if Floyd becomes the aggressor. In my opinion for Manny to win he needs volume combined with the occasional well placed power punch, I don't think he can achieve this just by going on the front foot, moving his head, and throwing lots of punches, this is too crude. Floyd will figure his rhythm out and start picking him off. He needs to do different things in there, Maidana in the first fight went aggressive and threw lots of volume early had some success and never changed and eventually the fight just drifted away from him. You can argue that Maidana didn't really have the ability to do anything else, and I would agree with that. Manny can do a bit of everything, and he will need to use all his abilities including at times boxing ability and movement to win the fight.

One of the few intelligent posts ive seen on this site talking about this fight. I have a feeling that Mayweather will look to destroy Pacquiao in the fight, which will make him more vulnerable, but I think he's too good and intelligent in the ring to not adjust if it dosent work out.

            You guys are talking nonsense

Why would manny fight off the back foot

So the guy with a shorter reach and the guy who should want to dictate the pace and disrupt the opponents rhythm is gonna fight off the back foot?

Is Ariza actually helping to prepare Mayweather? Looking at the pictures and videos he's doing the stuff he usually does and Ariza doesn't seem to be present in them...

ok. my thinking is there are 2 constants:

Floyd lowers punch output and connect % of his opponent
Manny keeps fighting to win and wont fight "to not get KO'd" like a lot of Floyd's opponents

Since I assume these will both happen, I am left to wonder what happens when Manny deals with being behind on the cards (because his punch output is lowered and he isn't connecting at a high rate, thus losing rounds) yet still trying to get the KO win. Maybe he lands something. Maybe Floyd has the pressure you discussed and he tries for the KO win and gets caught.

If these constants hold true, Floyd will fight as he always does with a lead on the cards. This means Manny is forced to continue following him around the ring, yet where he may have been more cautious before, now he is forced to go for broke because he is down on the cards.

If we get the Floyd from maidana 1 or 2, I think Manny chances of winning are very good. If we get the Floyd that fought Canelo, then I think Manny is in real trouble.
