That being said, it's still the US and Canelo had his chance and become LeBron is the fourth quarter of the finals a few years back and did ABSOLUTELY nothing. It was like Canelo was getting wedgies, swirlies, wet willy's and everything a bully used to do in school to you and he just let it happen. It was embarrassing as hell, but hey... that's apparently what Mexicans are proud of and want to see every year as opposed the boxing clinic Floyd put on. Your skill doesn't matter in boxing Dunn, it's all about race as we can see.
Canelo and Bob made it about Mexicans because Canelo couldn't beat Mayweather in the ring and Bob knows MGM/Vegas will likely choose Floyd over cotto/Canelo for May because he has proven to make so much money.

If Canelo truly cared about the holiday he would fight near the site of the battle or in the country the battle took place, or he'd go to France on the weekend/date and take on a French contender (none come to mind) to rub the victory in the faces of the French.

Canelo, Bob, ODH, and HBO want to make the most they can on the cotto fight but can't get the MGM and Las Vegas business community to side with them.

What's good fam? Question: Is fighting on Cinco de Mayo a serious roadblock by Floyd, or a bull**** excuse by Bob Arum?

What's good fam? Question: Which is bigger, Cotto vs. Canelo in Vegas, or Cotto vs. GGG in NYC on the weekend of the PR Day Parade?

Cotto vs Canelo by far. But there is no difference in buyrate if that fight happens in June in NY. The only thing that does is make Canelo's chances of winning harder and we all know you can't do that to Saul. It's racist if he fights on any day that isn't a Mexican holiday or in a location where he wouldn't have hometown hero status. Oh, and Cotto would have to make the same amount of money in the process.

With respect to Mexican Fans, they're the best Boxing Fans along with UK Fans nobody will ever deny that...BUT THIS AINT MEXICO! WE IN AMERICA! PPV Buys do great because of CASUAL AMERICAN FANS! It is not a fight on the All Time PPV Buys Rankings that did not INCLUDE AN AMERICAN FIGHTER, reason why is because THIS IS AMERICA! JUST SAYING! Canelo don't run **** Here! He is lucky to even be ALLOWED to make money here!

They can go Head To Head if they want with Mayweather but Mayweather wins regardless of who he fights mostly because of ****** clueless Casual American Fans who don't follow boxing but tune in every time Pacquiao or Mayweather is fighting to throw fight parties and because they can afford to buy PPV's. Look at both Cotto and Canelo PPV Numbers Recently, you wanna know why they all FLOPPED...Because THEY WASN'T FIGHT AN AMERICAN so American fans had ZERO INTEREST IN THOSE FIGHTS and the Numbers Showed That BIG TIME!
I'm with you man, and I'm a 100% born and raised Mexican citizen, May5 is an important date for Mexico, but that don't mean ****, May and Sep should be for the best fighters not only for Mexican fighters.

If what fight happens in June in NY? I think Cotto vs. GGG in June in NYC would be equal. One thing is for sure, Cotto vs. GGG in June in NYC would do better than Canelo vs. ??? on Cinco De Mayo. Canelo needs to stay in his lane.

Boxing is a business. Canelo can want to fight on a Mexican holiday because he believes he has some "right" to it, but he doesn't. Truth is, his overrated ass isn't really PPV worthy beyond his loyal fans. Mayweather is the PPV king because his loyal fans want to see him win, and his haters want to see him lose. That said, Mayweather's best chance at continued PPV supremacy regardless of the date, is to fight Pacquiao. If he seals that deal, Canelo will not dare fight on the same date. If Mayweather fights anybody else and he and Canelo host fights on the same date, they will both lose market share.
