Don't get me wrong, I would favour Kovalev over everyone at light heavy. However, I don't think there is anyone at light heavy that can do what Ward does.
I do agree Ward is better than B-Hop. No question.

But Kovalev fought the perfect fight. Yes, he made maybe 10 mistakes or so, but everyone does, every fight.

      He outboxed and outsmarted Hopkins.

I know he's 49, but ffs, B-Hop didn't even win a single round! When has that ever happened?

Kovalev's performance was impressive to say at least..

Other than the 12th, when the ref was easily within his rights to stop it, Kovalev never really tried to stop Hopkins. He was trying to outbox Hopkins, and did so easily. I find that very impressive, very few thought he could box with Hopkins at all, let alone do so with ease. Only thing that worries me is Kovalev's stamina, but going 12 for the first time helps that.

If Kovalev had gone all out trying to stop Hopkins and failed, I would worry, but he wasn't doing so at all.

Wards good but hes a bit Carlos Molina esque in the sense he is just a total spoiler. I've never seen him as the ultra skilled masterful boxer he is made out to be, second most skilled fighter in the sport and all that b.s!

Hes a good fighter but hes a bit of a conman really, hes only beaten bums and two good but far from great overachievers totally made for him.
He will duck The Krusher like the plague just like he did Bute because he wasn't cement footed.
He won't fight a guy like Kovalev who can control distance so well.
The Krusher is subtle he will step back or he'll shoot the uppercut and catch him coming in everytime he goes to clinch which is 50% of his game.

Only thing close to great about Ward is his jab.

Ward is strong so he is good at clinching. But mah homey Kovalev don't play dat.
            He gotta disdain for clinching.

Ward would try to clinch at new levels. Higher than his clinching against Edison Miranda. That was an epic level of clinching.

You are right though. We shouldn't be talking about fantasy fights since Ward rarely even fights real ones. He's pretty good fantasy wise p4p doe.

Having seen what I did last night, I would favour Kovalev.

              I was very, very impressed.

Ward would do better than Hopkins -- which is obvious... Ward is young, he jumps in and out with ease, he clinches a lot... But Kovalev would deck him with big counters, precisely because Ward use to jump in... (in case Ward chooses to stay in the distance, you would get the same fight you watched last night...)

His fight against Rodriguez was ridiculous. He didn't need to clinch but for some reason he'd jab, fall in and clinch every two seconds.
I can't understand why he does it especially when its not needed and hes effortlessly outboxing someone and can seemingly do as he pleases.

Even in the few clinches against B-Hop, Kovalev was able to generate sickening force from such a short distance. One in particular a 4-5'' right hand and the thud it made! That man has some evil power!

It will be the greatest wrestling match since Gardner-Karelin

Ward is really fast too when he comes in so quickly you're being clinched before you even know it or have consented to it.
