I think the theatre option severely reduces his ppv sales. The movie theatre option is much cheaper and frankly it is more appealing to much of Floyd's fanbase which seems to be younger, have less disposable income and really only floyd fans as opposed to boxing fans.

I would have split the cost with some friends and relatives. They have lost interest in the sport.

It's a tough economy. $80 can buy you lots of canned foods and condiments.

I'm not sure if it's even worth streaming.

I think I'll watch a movie that night instead of boxing.

Theater option, prices are going up too

                    just some questions/comments

                    1. If the theater option reduces Floyd's sales, why would they do it then? It is about $50 cheaper than $70 or so HD PPV price.

but a head to head comparison, I've noticed that the ticket pricing for fights at movie theaters has gradually increased. Take note - and I have gone several times

Mayweather vs Marquez was the first fight in Mayweather's comeback ticket price was $15. I went and it was sold out. The very next fight was also at theaters - Mayweather vs Mosley and it was $25 at theaters, I noticed the price increasing $10 and did not see at theaters.

I guess Mayweather-Mosley didn't sell well because Floyd's very next fight vs Ortiz was at theaters also and the price was $15 (did see). Then vs Cotto in May, also $15 (saw @ theaters). Guerrero & Canelo were both $15 as well and I saw both @ theaters.

but the first Maidana and now rematch are $25 at theaters. So what used to be a much cheaper option is even going up in price

yeah it's only a $10 price increase, but throw that on top of food/beverage which are historically over priced @ movie theaters and you could easily spend $40 or more

the movie theater does have it's benefits, as it's a unique way to view a fight compared to the standard bar, BUT IMO showing a fight at the Theater starts to lose that edge as the ticket price goes up

I work Saturday but I should be catch the main event. I'm steaming it. The only fights I will pay for is canelo vs Cotto or triple g vs chavez Jr. That's it.
