People easily understand that issues such as (random) drug testing, ring size, gloves are to be agreed upon by both fighters from the very beginning and they may be stipulated into the fight contract...
But Mayweather denying Maidana's MX gloves only one day before the fight created a dangerous "binding precedent": that is Mayweather now feels entitled to change whatever it crosses his mind (i.e. hand wraps, gloves, shoes, shorts, mouth shields, groin protectors, a.s.o.) just because he pays...
Fortunately he can't pay the public to buy his fights.
I didn't appreciate the last minute switch either, in fact I was pissed. But it wasn't some sort of precedent. Something similar happened before Wlad-Wach fight just a couple years ago. I think that happened on the actual night of the fight, too.

It was on the fight night actually -- and it was not about changing the gloves type; it was about some padding missing from one glove... The opponent's team always checks the hand wrapping and the gloves before a fight... It's a must before a fight...
Very different situation...
Calls himself TBE and uses every advantage to weaken his opponents. Pathetic. This guy will be remembered as a pathetic crybaby more than anything else.
Maybe in a boxing forum. But certainly not real life to fighters or fans.

It's not that different of a situation...I mean I could be harsh and say that it's even worse than the Floyd-Maidana thing because this was only an hour or two before the fight, but I don't wanna argue about that.
Just saying, someone from the other camp comes in and makes a claim about a glove. Vitali felt there was an issue with padding, Ellerbe felt there was an issue with padding. Both fighters had to switch in the 11th hour, this **** happens.
Now in hindsight, perhaps the concern the Klits had about Wach were justified as he ended up testing positive for PEDS after the fight... but folks on the side of Floyd have been trying to voice their justification about b*tching about the gloves, especially with how Garcia ended up blatantly telling MArcos to be "dirty" as the fight was happening.
Boxing turns me off with **** like this. Making guys fight with specific gloves just gain an advantage. Floyd's not the first but he calls himself TBE and then does this p*ssy ****. Rematch will probably be a boring ud for Mayweather. The undercard is horrible. No way I'm spending my money on this. I have the UFC PPV to pay for taking place the 28th and my monthly UFC Fight Pass subscription as well. I'm more pumped to see Eddie Alvarez UFC debut, Connor McGregor, Cat Zinganos return at UFC 178 And Miesha Tate's fight in Japan than this rematch. And I love Boxing more than MMA but this bs is not worth my money. Especially if Floyd is taking away Maidana punchers chance of winning.
Only issue I have with this whole situation is Everlast being quiet on the subject, these are your gloves being dragged through the mud. They aren't illegal gloves so why isn't everlast saying shhh about it. I'm glad they are training with what they'll end up using tho. Even if Maidana doesn't use the MX gloves Everlast should've been said something and stood up for their brands reputation...now you'll have boxing fans looking at anyone using MX gloves like they are cheating.

Youve never boxed and you obviously young and naive , the gloves Maidana will wear are punchers gloves , the issue for them is not the type of glove the issue was not being used to wearing them , the custom gloves Maidana brought at the last hour in the first fight was an attempt to cheat just like Margarito was caught by ****m they picked up on the tampered with Maidana gloves ,,,,,,,
Now would you let them wear want they want after they tried a stunt like that , I doubt it , and Floyd not allowing him has nothing to do with the glove because Cotto wore the MX brand against Floyd .
You guys in here spin so much hating BS , the blind led by the blind .
