You have to ask why the self-proclaimed TBE would would even worry about what brand of gloves his opponents wears. I don't believe Kotelnik, Khan or Alexander insisted on a pair of specific gloves for Maidana, so why would a much more talented boxer in Mayweather hold such concerns over a boxer who he claims is an inferior puncher to recent opponents?

Because he knows the HUGE difference between gloves. Today you have materials that can catch a bullet with 1/4 the thickness of fabric of a boxing glove. With a boxing glove designed to absorb impact it will be extremly hard for Chino to cause any serious damage to good'ol Fraud. With his running and pot punching technique, the ref and judges on his side, and gloves designed to absorb the impact, everything is in Frauds favor. With puncher gloves Maidana would rip into Fraud, and even with less accuracny and landing a third of his punches he'd be suffering a lot more damage.

The best Boxer of all time wouldn't win q fight like he did against Ortiz... The beat boxer of all time wouldn't make such a fuzz over gloves... Specially since Maidana doesn't wear Reyes gloves... Mayweather is a coward... He doesn't have the balls of a Marquez or a Maidana... He's a fraud and although skilled, he will stay unbeaten because he will continue to chose to have an advantage in every fight.
