WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs) is not an option for Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) on December 13th, but the fight might be a possibility for the future. Cotto's trainer, Freddie Roach, will not allow his fighter to face Golovkin at the full middleweight limit of 160-pounds.
Although Cotto holds the WBC's title at 160, Roach is more comfortable with Golovkin come down in weight as close as possible to t he junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds. In several past interviews, Golovkin and his trainer Abel Sanchez have mentioned the idea of coming down to 154 for a fight with Cotto or Floyd Mayweather Jr.
