No. And I'm not that excited about Kovalev but I might even root for him. Anything to make Hops retire. Not that I don't respect him but I find the idea of a 49-year-old selecting certain opponents (and avoiding others) profoundly annoying.
Who is he avoiding? Fighting a guy like Kovalev is the exact opposite of what you're suggesting.

I guess. Doesn't interest me much, to be honest, but then again I don't think much of Kovalev. I'm just biased. I wanna see him fight Ward or just retire.
Cmon IronDan you've been here long enough. When discussing opponents with everyone else its where they were ranked. with Floyd its personal opinion of that ranking.
Definitely but it's also due to the fact a lot of the new fans listen to the idiotic notion of "Flod hasn't fought anybody" and assume that that's the truth. Considering that's seemly the cool thing to do, discredit Floyd.
A lot of these younger fans would likely assume that Hopkins has fought more #1 ranked guys than Floyd. But in reality he really hasn't.
Hopkins has beaten Trinidad, Eastman, Tarver and Pascal who were all ranked #1 in the division being fought in.
Floyd beat just as many at 130 and 135 alone.
Floyd's beaten more #1 ranked guys, and more Top 5 ranked guys. By quite a margin aswell.
At this point right now, I'm picking Hopkins. I need to go back and watch the tape on Kovalev.
Do you guys think Krusher should look to pressure hard/fast in the early rounds? Or do you guys think Hopkins will surprise us and pressure early? I feel whoever wins the first 3-4 rounds gives themselves a much easier night.
I think he should continue fighting the way he has been doing, sometimes when fighters get their big chance at a big opponent they kind of freeze and fall into the trap of the opponent. Hopkins has done this to a lot of fighters.
Kovalev usually takes the first round to kind of see what the other fighter has and then he just demolishes them. Hopkins is a notorious slow starter, Kovalev should really try to hurt him early. We don't know how Kovalev will fare in the later rounds if it comes to that.
Kovalev should try to get off short punches when Hopkins clinches, he shouldn't allow Hopkins to clinch. Easier said than done ofcourse.
I didn't vote (I never vote against B-Hop because of my respect for the sport)...
Nevertheless, the poll gives Kovalev as winner with more than 59% of the votes...
2 days: Sergey Kovalev shows vulnerabilities of the Krusher
He was 2 LBS over weight 90 MINUTES before the weigh in for Agnew.
He obtained 2 CUTS vs Agnew and seemed to cringe during the fight, for someone who is considered a monster that might be concerning. Imagine what will happen when he gets that shiny grandad noggin bumped into his head?
It's unfortunate for Sergey that Adonis jumped ship because he could have killed that glass jawed freak and become lineal champ but against hopkins he has a style that is not good for him.
