All of the examples used were against ranked contenders. If you hold a belt and you fight a guy that is ranked by the organization your belt belongs to, while I may not like the fight its perfectly justifiable. Take Pacquiao vs. Abregu for example. It's not the fight I prefer because there are better choices and Pac fights on PPV. But its an acceptable fight. Your favorite ATG old school fighter probably has 50 or 60 Abregu's on his resume. If you hold a title you have to defend it.

Rod Salka is ranked by no sanctioning body, is in a weight class below Garcia, and is ranked 77 in said weight class.

This might be the worst HBO or ShowTime Championship boxing headliner of all time.
