He will not be missed. Incredibly boring fighter who is wasting his talent. Overrated by many. He is skilled but not as great as he is made out to be. He relies too heavily on clinching to be called a truly great pure boxer. Rigondeaux/Mayweather compared to Ward is night and day in my opinion in terms of pure boxing skills. I'll actually be glad to see Ward go. Sick of his hometown bull**** and inactivity even though he is already 30, saying everyone is ducking him when he can't draw flies to **** and won't go up in weight despite the fact that he won a gold at LHW and literally every great modern day fighter has moved up in weight. If Roy Jones jr, De La Hoya, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Toney etc can all move up by almost 30lbs or more in their career then why can't Ward move up 7lbs when he's fought at 175 before?
Marquess of Queensberry rules, code of rules that most directly influenced modern boxing. Written by John Graham Chambers, a member of the British Amateur Athletic Club, the rules were first published in 1867 under the sponsorship of John Sholto Douglas, ninth marquess of Queensberry, from whom they take their name. The rules are as follows:
Rule 2—No wrestling or hugging allowed.
Count how many times Ward hugged Froch in that fight and tell me you could give him the round when it is clearly against the rules. I score boxing matches according to the rules. If you don't than you don't know how to score boxing matches
All that said, if you scored that fight for Froch, you're an idiot.
Not even Froch's more ardent supporters thought he won that fight.
I knew it lol. With Golovkin in the picture, he was going to wait until he dissapeared or retire if he didn't. Golovkin just mentally messed up this guy's entire life. This coward is dead scared of Golovkin and he knows that if he moves up to avoid him, Kovalev is waiting for him.
almost every sanctioning body gives a fighter a year of inactivity. ward fought in mid november, around 7 months ago.
after watching floyd's last fight, i think he's the best p4p fighter on the planet, and don't see how anybody could disagree with me.
maybe you take rigondeaux, but that guy isn't active, either.
The problem with Ward is that he is one of the best fighters in the game today but he chooses not to be great. He could be P4P # 1 if he wanted to. I don't even have him on my list. he is too inactive. he thinks he is a major PPV star but the truth is that he fights in Oakland almost every single time and is not very known to casual fans.
He also rejects good fights offered to him. Lets not pretend Edwin Rodriguez had a chance, who had he fought? So he fights on HBO against another basically unknown fighter and to top it all off that was one of the dirtiest fights in recent years. When has both fighters ever lost two points each in a fight for "unsportsmanlike behavior"? that turns people off. (both fighters fault, but still)
Andre Ward is an inactive hard sell, who thinks he is entiteled to whatever he wants when he really isnt..
Extremely skilled fighter, but I'm getting tired of his ****..
