BEST OVERALL Harris: “On the night I boxed Vivian Harris, I think he would have beat everybody else at the weight, except me. If you look at what they achieved in their career, it’s a whole different story. It’s what opportunities you get, when you get opportunities. If you look at outstanding achievements, you think Bradley. He beat Pac-Man, he beat Devon. He achieved so much. Zab Judah was pound-for-pound best of his time. I’m doing it on the night I boxed them, and it’s Vivian Harris.”
A lot of people didn't want to fight Vivian Harris back in the day.
BEST OVERALL Tyson: I’d have to go with Tyson. He’s very good at his job. There’s different levels to boxing and Mike Tyson fluctuated in levels. When he’s training and [switched] on, it’s hard to beat him. I shared a ring with him for 19 rounds. Tyson had good defense – he was always slipping punches and had great head movement. He made it difficult to land power shots as he was maneuvering inside. At the same time, he applying constant pressure, not giving you any time to recover or breathe. Tyson was also quick but had unbelievable power for his size. He also had good timing and coordination, where he was throwing punches from all angles. You never knew what to expect and when he connected you felt the damage. He broke my jaw in the second round [of the second fight]. He had that killer instinct. When he went in the ring, you knew he had the desire to try to kill you and not hurt you. When he said, “If Razor Ruddock doesn’t die, it doesn’t count,” he meant that.
Funny, how tons of dudes who fought the prime Tyson & other all-time greats often rate Tyson as the best they fought in at least a few categories, even though modern casuals swear he was so overrated.
A lot of people didn't want to fight Vivian Harris back in the day.
Including a *cough TBE cough*
Because he was nobody, every time a guy wins a string of fights coming up all of a sudden, nobody wants to fight him, its BS the reason is that they ain't financially worth it, got nothing to to do with oh they might lose they are not a big enough name is the only reason the guys apparently not wanting to fight him, they beat guys so far ahead of these prospects its a joke, that's why the greats go on and become great and the prospect fizzles out, its called Loser Lament.

Um, he was the champion at 130 for 3 years.
That inherently makes him more than a "nobody".
If you're not trying to fight the other champions in your division, then YOU are the nobody, who's ducking your competition.
BEST JAB Billy Joe Saunders: John Jackson had a great jab, Peter Quillin had a great jab but I think Billy Joe Saunders probably surprised me with his jab the most. He sat quite low with his legs and would jab quite high and I found it difficult to out jab him or jab with him.
BEST DEFENSE Saunders: I wasn’t able to catch him with that one big shot. He was clever, he wouldn’t risk landing his own punch, he was quite safe and quite clever in how he boxed. Very smart boxer and when he knew he was in with a puncher, it made his defense even sharper.
BEST HANDSPEED John Jackson: Maybe because it was at a lower weight, that fight was at 154, most of my career was at 160 but I’d gone down the weight to take that fight. He had speed and power.
BEST FOOTWORK Saunders: Part of Saunders defense is his footwork. Chavez Jr. was quite ******* with his footwork. His footwork was pressure footwork and where he would try to maneuver and position to get you onto the ropes. I would say Saunders.
SMARTEST Matt Korobov: Saunders was a very smart, very clever fighter. Chavez had a lot of tricks, Quillin was quite clever, we had to be patient because we were punching so hard. You look at the Russian and Eastern European’s who have come on since Korobov, you can see when they have that amateur schooling behind them, there’s no mistakes, everything they do there’s a reason and method for it. Korobov was outpointing me, I class myself as a boxer, and I didn’t let anyone outpoint me but he was outpointing me for six-rounds before I caught up with him.
STRONGEST Peter Quillin: Chavez was strong but I would say Peter Quillin. The size of the man, when we were in close, he was hard to move around and move off his feet when you were trying to tie him up.
BEST CHIN Carl ****erham: He basically a journeyman at the time, a gatekeeper. It was on a Top Rank show and they wanted to see what I had and they put me in with Carl ****erham and when we were at the weigh in, I looked at the guy and Johnathan Banks was with me and said, ‘Andy he has a big head.’ We always said a big head equals a good chin. I hit this guy clean with everything and he kept coming. Brian Vera had a great chin, too. Brian Vera was a warhorse.
BEST PUNCHER Quillin: John Jackson was a massive puncher; he had his dad’s power. He dropped me for the for the first time in my career in the first round and that was a new experience but the biggest puncher was undoubtedly Peter Quillin. Quillin dropped me at the end of that first round in that fight. I don’t remember any of the fight, the next thing I knew I was getting up off the stool and it was Round 11. I said to Adam Booth, ‘How am I doing? Am I in the fight? Shall I go for the knockdown?’ He said, ‘Andy, keep boxing, you’re in the fight.’ But I had no recollection, I didn’t know what I was doing, that’s how hard he hit me. Quillin, it was lights out for me. My fitness and conditioning got me through, I was on auto pilot until the end of Round 11.
BEST BOXING SKILLS Saunders: Korobov was an excellent, master technician. Billy Joe Saunders is someone I appreciated a lot more since fighting him. Saunders (is the best) because he beat me.
BEST OVERALL Saunders: It’s between Saunders, Quillin and Korobov. At another time or had things gone differently Korobov could have been a great champion but he met me on that one night and that one punch changed the course of our careers. Probably the best overall I fought was Billy Joe Saunders.
I was so pissed when Lee lost to blow job Saunders. Definitely coulda changed the mw landscape at the time
BEST JAB
Badou Jack: “He gets the jab out, the timing; he’s patient. It was a swift jab.”
BEST DEFENSE
Jack: “He had a good defense, too. He can block the punch.”
BEST HANDSPEED
Chad Dawson: “I could see his jab was very quick.”
BEST FOOTWORK
Oleksandr Gvozdyk: “He moved around the ring very well.”
SMARTEST
Andrzej Fonfara: “When I fought the first fight, he let me punch him, he kept blocking and was waiting for a good moment. He was very wise, waiting for his moment. When his moment came, he caught me and I realized everything he was doing was to wear me down. My energy was going and he knew it. He saw the opportunity, he caught me and [I went down, then] I got up.”
STRONGEST
Fonfara: “He’s big and very strong physically. He walked around at 200 pounds.”
BEST PUNCHER
Dawson: “I could feel his power, and he also disrespected me. I said in my mind, ‘I have to finish him quick,’ before he got his rhythm.”
BEST CHIN Sakio Bika: “I don’t think there was a boxer who knocked him out. I hit him clean, he went on the floor and he got up. He had a good defense, but he had a good chin. When you punched him in the head you felt the punch in your hands. He’s got a chin!”
BEST BOXING SKILLS
“I think Tony Bellew had good skills. He had long arms, good jab. Aaron Pryor Jr., he’s tall — this guy is 10 feet (laughs) and he’s got skills.”
BEST OVERALL
Jack: “He was a two-weight world champion. He brought the best out in me; we had a great fight.”
Kovalev coulda easily been on those places but the pimp ducked. Surprised he didn't have oleksander on there
Man I respect Marquez and IMO he should have been given the nod in at least one of the first 3 Pacquiao fights. I’ve seen different opinions on which so you can take your pick, but damn I was expecting him to give Floyd some credit SOMEWHERE! Oscar and I believe it was Pacquiao who also didn’t but that I pretty much expected that.
He went to war with Pacquiao 4 times with both men doing their share of damage and winning rounds until he finally got the KO in the “zit-back” fight but damn.
I understand he was moving up from lightweight and Floyd cheated him on the scales, but 120-107 wasn’t it or something like that? Surprising because after retirement and all I thought I seem to remember him saying flattering things about Floyd. Again I understand his general sentiment doe because of the history and respect he has with Pacquiao.
Marquez surprised me with his behavior a few times doe. I never expected to see him drink a glass of his own piss on HBO or act like a poor sport in the ring after the Bradley fight. That fight was not even close! I understand competitive spirit but damn it’s over, he lost bad. And I was rooting for him! I haven’t seen the interview in years but I seem to recall him not giving Bradley any credit whatsoever.
I have read this post years ago with all of the fighters and I loved it and I saw a pop up again so I revised. Great stuff!
I am from Arkansas originally so I loved Jermain Taylor’s “fastest hands” or “fastest” answer, whichever it was. ME!
Why would he name froid anywhere? Marquez moved up 2 weight classes and froid didn't even make weight lol
If you're not trying to fight the other champions in your division, then YOU are the nobody, who's ducking your competition.
Seeing as you name nobody he beat means what, also look who beat him, Harris was nothing special just another belt holder, holding a title don't mean the things youre trying to make it mean, the belts are secondary to who you took them off and who you defended against and what was their form at the time, Harris was KOed numerous times and beaten by contenders, ok not nobody but nothing special at all.
