          Toshiaki Nishioka - April 2018

          BEST JAB
          RAFAEL MARQUEZ
: He could throw long-range jabs as well as using his long reach. It was very difficult for me to go closer to him because of his jab. He could also use his left hand very well, in order to prevent opponents from coming closer.

          BEST DEFENSE
          NONITO DONAIRE
: He was really wonderful in defense, at that time, as you know that he was selected as the MVP boxer of the BWAA in 2012. He was very quick and fast in every aspect of footwork, response to punches of an opponent, lateral movement and his entire body work.

          FASTEST HANDS
          DONAIRE
: His combination punches, in moving laterally, were very quick. They were very effective, since they were launched from the blind angle of an opponent.

          BEST FOOTWORK
          DONAIRE
: He was able to use his footwork with minimum effort and move into the next attack. Every move he made was for a purpose, very smooth and fluid.

          STRONGEST
          GENARO GARCIA
: Regardless of me landing many powerful punches on him, he was able to throw punches with pressure against me. He was able to continue to try without quitting, to go forward to launch his solid punches, even if I hit him many times. If I stopped using my footwork, I could have got swept up by his constant pressure.

          SMARTEST
          JHONNY GONZALEZ
: He was a boxer who knew his own advantages and disadvantages. He could stop me by throwing long-ranged jabs by using his long reach, and then continuously throwing his favorite left hooks and left body shots. Once he felt that his opponent was damaged by his punches, he could immediately get closer to throw his double or triple punches. He understood that he did not have a strong chin; he would fight in a careful manner in the early rounds. He would throw and land his punches in the range where the opponent could not reach his punches. His punches were very powerful. If his offense pattern fit to his opponent, he could immediately rush to end the fight. In other words, he was a boxer totally knowing of himself.

          BEST CHIN
          NAPAPOL KIATISAKCHOKCHAI
: I landed powerful punches many times; however he was fearless and, with his tremendous toughness, went forward to throw heavy and powerful punches.

          BEST PUNCHER
          DONAIRE
: He had many different kind of punches with sharpness and edge. He could continue to move his body freely to get closer with his opponent, in order to throw his punches from blind angles. He had wonderful punches with high speed.

          BEST BOXING SKILLS
          MARQUEZ
: The battle-hardened Marquez could deliver his punches freely from long-range, mid-range and short-range. He threw long-range right and left hooks, initially from blind angles, but they reached his opponent. These punches are typical ones among Mexican boxers. In short range, he folded his long arms to land his powerful and accurate uppercuts, hooks and body blows. He was very good at managing any fight at his own pace by going the full distance, even if he was on the backfoot. I had to be careful the whole fight with him.

          BEST OVERALL
          DONAIRE
: In boxing, speed is a very important factor. At that time when I fought with him, he had devastating speed of punches and footwork. I do not think that a boxer moving around fast is a real speedster. I think that a real speedster moves around the bare minimum, in order to set up his next offense. That was Donaire. His speed in every moment was wonderful.

Lennox Lewis - (Interview from Sep 2015)

            BEST SKILLS
            Evander Holyfield
: Evander was very talented, although I was disappointed that he used his head as a punch in those fights. The word was that he was the greatest heavyweight of our era but nobody could say that until he fought Lennox Lewis. In the first fight he was overconfident, singing during his ring walk, so I went after him and he was shocked to get that draw. Second time around he knew what to expect so it was a tougher fight but I still won comfortably.

            BEST JAB
            Razor Ruddock
: Ruddock had a good jab before he hit the canvas.

            BEST DEFENSE
            Holyfield
: Holyfield had excellent variety to his defense. He could cross his arms like George Foreman but he was also well schooled in the traditional type of defense you get taught in the amateurs. Evander presented a real challenge and I had to put in a lot of effort to break through. I couldn’t just land one or two shots and be content; it had to be threes, fours and fives.

            BEST CHIN
            Oliver McCall
: There is no doubt. He was Mike Tyson’s sparring partner for years and had “cracking?reflexes.

            BEST PUNCHER
            Shannon Briggs
: He lacked endurance but Briggs certainly knew how to put his bodyweight behind a punch. Unfortunately for him you need the full package when you face me so power isn’t enough. Fans may expect me to say McCall or Hasim Rahman for punching power but I basically set myself up against both of them.

            FASTEST HANDS
            Briggs
: I was surprised by Briggs?hand speed. He was able to close the gap very quickly and that allowed him to get off the big punches. Sometimes you don’t realize how quick someone is until you’re in there.

            FASTEST FEET
            Zeljko Mavrovic
: I had to break him down by cutting off the ring. Mavrovic moved well but he was in survival mode from the moment the fight started.

            SMARTEST
            Vitali Klitschko
: Vitali used his awkwardness to good effect. Everyone said that I should have fought him again but he was just icing on my retirement cake. I took him on at short notice and despite being mentally ready, my physical preparation wasn’t ideal. I beat him at my worst so there was no need for a rematch. He definitely experienced the uppercuts.

            STRONGEST
            Hasim Rahman
: Rahman was very strong in the first fight and then he landed a lucky punch. People say that there’s no such thing as a lucky punch but it’s a punch thrown “one time.?In the rematch he couldn’t get near me so I don’t know how strong he was that night.

            BEST OVERALL
            Holyfield
: Holyfield was the best opponent I faced in my career.

                Rafael Limon - May 2017

                BEST JAB
                ALEXIS ARGUELLO
: He was tall. He was thin. He had fast hands. He was a good fighter and also a good person. The right jab was very powerful because of the movement of his legs. He had a good stance, with the movement of his body, with his right jab, he was able to hurt you.

                BEST DEFENSE
                BOBBY CHACON
: Bobby Chacon was like an armadillo; he was covering everywhere. You had to make some feints to throw a punch and land it fast because he had a really nice defense.

                FASTEST HANDS
                HECTOR CAMACHO
: I had to go to Puerto Rico and was willing to go for the money but I was scared when I fought Hector Camacho. I was frightened of getting hurt. After that fight, I was 29 years old and said I don’t want to fight anymore. He wasn’t strong but he was very fast. He could throw punches in a couple of seconds. He didn’t punch that hard but he was very fast.

                BEST FOOTWORK
                ARGUELLO
: In the beginning, it was hard for him to adapt to my southpaw stance but he really was the best and soon started moving from side to side in a way that I could not get him.

                CHIN
                JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ
: Chavez, I met him a long time before we fought. We were sparring partners for a long time. He was young when he lived in Culiacan. When I faced Chavez, I was retired; it was because of the change of opponent. The other opponent got hurt, so I stepped in. Chavez had a really hard chin; he resisted all the punches. Neither of us would retreat in the sparring sessions; we only sparred three rounds because they were wars.

                SMARTEST
                ARGUELLO
: He was smart because he was able to knock me down. I didn’t see the shot; I was never able to see how that shot got to me. When I saw him, I thought I would defeat him easily because he was thin and tall but I made a mistake. I met a nice Filipino girl and I didn’t train right. I don’t want to make excuses but I was addressing other business instead of training. (Laughs) It was a lesson well-learned because, then, I understood you have to train to watch your weight. You have to do things correctly because, if not, you’re going to regret it in the fight.

                STRONGEST
                ROLANDO NAVARETTE
: Navarette was the hardest opponent. A day after our fight, I was peeing blood because of all the punches he landed on the kidney. I went to the doctor and he told me that I was OK.

                BEST PUNCHER
                BOBBY CHACON
: He was a mad dog! Maybe it was because he was addicted to drugs but all four fights with him were dog fights. I was able to knock him down in the first three fights but he put me down in the fourth.

                BEST BOXING SKILLS
                ARGUELLO
: He’s a three-weight world champion. He was the smartest; he analyzed you for two or three rounds and then he hit you with everything he had. He had a good clean style; he was never dirty. When I was cut against him, it was an accident. He was a great fighter and a very skilled fighter.

                BEST OVERALL
                CHAVEZ
: Chavez was the best. He is the best Mexican fighter ever ?past, present and future.

Mike Tyson - (Original interview from Jan 2014)

                  BEST JAB
                  Tony Tucker:
I had to be certain to slip well to keep from getting tagged.

                  BEST DEFENSE
                  Larry Holmes:
I have to say Larry Holmes even though I did win inside the distance. He was very tough to hit cleanly.

                  FASTEST HANDS
                  Tony Tubbs:
Tony Tubbs had the fastest hands. I was surprised how quick he let go with those combinations. And he was not afraid to throw them.

                  FASTEST FEET
                  Mitch Green:
I think Mitch Green had the fastest feet. It was very tough to set up near him and throw big shots.

                  BEST CHIN
                  Jose Ribalta
: I hit Jose Ribalta with everything, and he took everything and kept coming back for more.

                  SMARTEST
                  Holmes:
Larry Holmes was the smartest of all. It comes with being a champion for seven years.

                  STRONGEST
                  Ribalta
: Jose Ribalta stood toe to toe with me. He was very strong in the clinches.

                  BEST PUNCHER
                  Holyfield:
He threw terrific shots with both hands and with bad intentions.

                  BEST BOXER
                  Tucker:
He had an excellent jab, moved well and was very tough to hit clean.

                  BEST OVERALL
                  Holyfield
: Great champion: chin, heart, determination, work ethic, demeanor.
