Why did GGG not fight Ward the lineal champ at 168 but choose Chavez?

While I still think its a duck, I agree that the business aspect of boxing is a bit more complicated than people realize.

Well HBO did tell us GGG/ward wasn't a fight we wanted to see.

The particulars are not exactly the same but HBO didn't make these fights immediately when they could have.

HBO would want Golvokin/Martinez before Golovkin/Ward. There was no set-up to make Golovkin-Ward. There's no duck here.

Stevenson and Kovalev literally fought on the same card. They should have fought now but Stevenson wanted to fight a bum instead. Clear duck.

Yeah so why is it ok for him to do that but when Sergio Martinez takes on Cotto - the 3rd most lucrative fight in boxing - he's "scared" or "ducking".

Well I have heard that Andre Ward is too big from Gennady followers as well, but Chavez seems to be the right size, so maybe size is the reason?

He was saying that GGG should move straight into SMW and fight the best so I just put the same argument onto Mayweather.
