    Why did GGG not fight Ward the lineal champ at 168 but choose Chavez?

    Why did he not fight the best guy at 168? and don't talk to be about business and money because according to this forum that should not matter

      Ward himself is gunning for Chavez
      supposedly, that's why he's trying to get away from Goosen
      guess Ward can't fight anybody until that dispute is resolved
      GGG hasn't even beaten a top flight guy at MW yet
      don't really blame him for choosing a lesser guy for his 1st SMW fight

        He's never fought above 160 and his first fight at 168 should be against the best in the division?

        He's at least entitled to test the waters first, Larry. Who's to say the winner of GGG Chavez Jr won't fight Ward?

          HBO feels GGG can beat Chavez and establish himself as a ppv star. This way they can get you to buy GGG/chavez jr., ward/ggg, sergio/ggg, and ward/chavez jr.

          Besides, niether fighter is really "hurt" by losing and the fights fans still want to see (ward/chavez and ward/GGG) can still happen. If GGG loses-he's back to MW. If Chavez loses-well he wans't supposed to win anyway.

                  he wasn't ready to move up to 168 but now he is. just like ward isnt ready to move up to 175 according to his trainer.

                  andre ward says fight will happen down the line when it is bigger and better.........

                    Because he doesn't have the pedigree at 168 to be fighting for the championship. Like Cotto shouldn't be fighting for the middleweight championship.

                    168 is unfamiliar territory for both JCC Jr and GGG so a match off between them makes sense to find out where they might stand in the division. I'm not sure what Ward is doing though, why hasn't he got a fight announced?
