I don't know why Floyd fans scoff at this hypothetical -
Oscar in his prime was a decent fighter. He did have a pretty heavy jab that would've kept PBF honest, he definitely had the ability to apply effective pressure and was a pretty good boxer. It may very well be the factor of age and inactivity that costed him the fight.
And so what he was "gifted" the fight against Sweet Pea - De La Hoya pressed the fight - it's not like that didn't happen before with PBF...sheeesh.
DLH was a beast in his prime. People clown him all the time because of the fishnet thing, the drugs, kids out of wedlock but as a prime boxer, he was a beast.
no doubt a young oscar tears him apart im almost willing to bet if oscar didn't come off a long lay off he would have beat fraudweather in 05 same with old man mosley
Delahoya might have stopped him at 25 years of age,If there was no steroid test Mosley knocks Mayweather out in that 2nd round. Mayweather actually tested positive for that Mosley bout but the test were thrown into the dumpster according to that writer Montoya. I believe Mayweather was on roids because he looked more Muscular than Mosley, he push Mosley around in that bout which seemed su****ious to me
The fight would have been closer for sure, but I don't think he wins it.
People fool themselves into thinking the first fight was close because of the SD. Oscar won 3 rounds in that fight, mayyyybe 4. So perhaps he wins 4-5 rounds if he's younger and maybe even 6, and gets the decision.
But if Oscar gets to be at a better version, then so does Floyd. Floyd's not his best at 154, and it was his first fight there. Floyd would have been much better at 147.
