At 25 years of age, I would have beaten Mayweather with ease. ~Oscar De La Hoya

I remember Oscar, back in '99, taking on Ike Quartey, Oba Carr, and Tito Trinidad -he also took on a prime Mosley summer of 2000. Not a bad level of competition within a 16 month window.

Would that Oscar have taken out Floyd. I can't say. But it would've been one hell of a fight!

lol you're delusional if you think floyd, who was 2 or 3 weights down back then, was serious about fighting oscar at that time. he was just hyping and using oscar's name to promote himself.

it's no different to mikey garcia now saying he wants to fight pac...it's a big joke. pac of course just ignored him just how oscar ignored floyd back then. you flowmos are something

NO. I saw 2 rounds for Oscar. Also, don't forget, DLH would be facing a much younger, hungrier Floyd.

The fight was also at 154, with all the stipulations in Oscar's favor. First time for Floyd at that weight as well.

Floyd is Oscar's Great White Whale.. Visions of beating Mayweather haunt his dreams, rousing him in the middle of night as he wakes up drenched in sweat, furiously punching at the empty darkness. 'Go back to sleep, mi amor', says Millie, gently massaging his shoulders as he sobs quietly into his hands.

What would Oscar have gained by beating a 21 year old FMJ at that point?
Oscar was saying his prime would have beaten Floyd's prime, and I don't doubt that.
Prime Oscar couldn't even beat Shane Mosley and many think he lost to a very faded Pernell Whitaker. In fact, there is no fight in Oscar's career that indicates he could have beaten Mayweather jr.

Oscar was a one handed wonder and that wouldn't cut it against Mayweather at any age. Dream on....
