The reason the commercials and concerts are even a thing at all is because the game on its own is too bland to watch and is not entertaining enough to pull casuals in, that's why they have to use alternative means so that people who don't follow the sport can actually bear it once a year.

It's got to the point where they are actually the major thing, and not the game itself.
